  • Oil baffle plate installation

Has anyone drilled the 5 mm holes from the sump side back so you do not have to remove the drive shaft?

If not do you know the part # of the seals requried to remove driveshaft?

    Thanks

I did it and you have to remove the driveshaft and the bronze protector shaft. You'll need 1 seal (the one on the exhaust side) and 2 o-rings. The seal is 38342-03V10 and the o-rings are 38343-03V10. I actually have a stupid question to ask cause when I installed mine I didn't look. If its the tomei kit, the bottom piece with the flaps, does it sit flush with the bottom of the pan. I'm asking cause I'm not sure if there is enough room for metal shavings to come though if your rebuilding the motor.

The Tomei baffle plate sits flush with the bottom of sump. It is notched out at each rib. It is a new rebuild ... so what is your thoughts on the metal shavings?

While I am at it the Tomei oil restrictor is just tapped in overtop the OEM one?

      Thanks for the info

Yea I tapped the oil restrictor in.

Basically when you rebuild a motor there is metal shavings and pieces that come out in the first oil change. I had a bit but not much, I kinda have feeling the shavings are getting held by the baffle.

Ralph, go to canadian tire, buy a 12" long drill bit and drill the holes. You don't have to take out the shaft. Cover up the holes on the diff and wash, pressurewash the pan, you will get all the metal shavings out.
