  • GTR R33

Hey guys, I'm from New Zealand and just bought a stock standard 1995 GTR R33 yesterday from Japan.

I got it for 594000 JPY which is equivalent to $15500 NZD landed.

The car is GRADE 4 has done 124000 kms and has only had 1 owner in Japan.

Is that high mileage for a GTR?

Do you guys reckon it was a good deal?

I have attached some pics of the car.

124k isn't very high for a GT-R. I've seen some near 200k. Make sure the timing belt has been done, if not, get that done along with the water and oil pump serviced

Care to post on the media section more pictures of your ride? I always like silver but never got a chance on owning one.

Yeah I'll post some pics when I get the car as it's still on put on the boat yet.

I've seen some GTR R33's at auction around the same price as this one with less kms and with mods like exhaust, intercooler and mags but this only had 1 owner in Japan and looked like a clean example and has a less chance of blowing up .

Hmm i thought in NZ vehicles have to have twin air bags and only vehicles from 2000 can be registered due to emissions.. or are there ways around all that?

wow i didnt know that but i guess you learn something new everyday!

Nice car all around. But even if the car doesnt need it i would do a complete service on the vehicle all around just to prevent a breakk down from happening at a crappy time.
Miss driving sooooo bad! Need to get a car on the road ASAP!

Make sure to check the oil right after it comes off the boat.

My friend picked his up, and blew the engine on the way home because it was bone dry. Who knows how long these cars have been sitting.

As a complete service, do you mean fluids or actually doing work on the oil pump or other hardware? I just bought an R32 and I'd want to do all fluids first and wait a bit before replacing the pump. I'm not very DYI inclined so I'm taking one step atta time. Is there anything I should watch out for? 130000kms and timing belt was changed at 60kms (that's what the importer said, I cant read the japanese service log that came with the car, sadly)
