  • My RB26 build. Check it out. Should I go TWIN or Single What turbo set up please help

    I like the twin turbo top mount look. I want about 600-700 hp. any advise?

    This RB was put together by ACE machine in riverside,very well know shop and every year they compete in syntec top shopchallenge.

    Engine specs:
    1. New Greddy pullys
    2. New Acl race bearing
    3. Oem Engine rebuild kit
    4. New Rb25 pan
    5. New N1 oil pump
    6. Brand new Eagle rods
    7. New Arp head studs
    8. New Cometic metal head gasket
    9. Brand new Cp pistons
    10. New Tomei pon cams int/exh
    11. New Ni water pump
    12. New Hks cam gears
    13. Splitfire coils
    14. New pitworks drive belts
    15. New Nismo Timing belt
    and lot more other parts.


    Lots of work went into building this engine.

      ...then you should have considered spending money on a hardened gear oil pump. Considering it's a common point of failure, you should have atleast purchased a Nismo Oil pump rather than the simple N1 pump. An additional $500-$600 (for the Nismo, over the price of the N1 pump) to protect an approximate $10,000 engine is a smart move.

        If the N1 pump is genuine, and you keep revs under 8k, and you stay off the rev limiter the N1 will probably be just fine.
        Twins or single is just a choice. Either one will deliver the power you're targeting and a well designed setup provide a similar torque curve. Big singles have a rep for being laggy and spooling late requiring more revs to make the car drivable, but I think you'd be able to pick one that would provide decent bottom end too.
        I run twin low mount Garrett GT2860R-5's at 17.5 psi and make 525 AWHP on pump gas with bags of torque available from 3500-4000 rpm. I've got no doubt 600 hp would be easy to reach with a bit more octane.
