The AC turns on because it reduces moisture in the air. Hence less window fog. My AC pump is seized so I took the belt off, and definitely noticed more window fogging. Namely, the rear quarter windows love to fog up. With no AC operating, I found 22.5c is the best temperature to prevent the windows from fogging up, lol

Just leave it on, all new cars also all have auto AC on defrost.

If you're that picky about "saving gas", how can you afford your car? lol :P

I know what you mean. Its a useless function in Alberta. Out in Vancouver or Japan on the other hand, it does help. Just hit the ac button again to turn it off.
