I don't think it would cost more than $2000 to get it on the road, probably less. Check the for sale thread, there is quite a few cars being parted out in your area. Transmissions go for 300-500, bumpers 150 -350, full sets of low k coil packs for 100-150. Sometimes you can score a great deal on stuff to. I bought a set of brand new never installed Ikeya rear camber arms off one member for $250 shipped, they retail for around $300 or more from RHDJapan before shipping and other fees/taxes.
Get'er back on the road, drive it for a couple years and stash $50-100 bucks a paycheck during that time, then go nuts building it up with new performance parts.

If you want to be headache free, sell it and buy another one.
If you like to work in mechanical stuff and you want a challenge, then keep it and work on it.

In the ends it comes down to you. What do you want?

Personally, as much as I love working on cars as a hobby, I hate working on DD cars trying to solve retarded issues. Rebuilding the engine on my old Tercel = a pain in the a$$. Working on my summer GTR = a walk in the park.

As for your car specifically, if booster cables were hooked up the wrong way and everything blew = massive headaches. It could be something simple such as burnt fuses or it could be something worst like melted wires. Trying to fix that can be a b*tch.

Hey bro, I need a flywheel/clutch shield asap. It's the plate that goes between your flywheel and the block/rear main seal. I live in fort mac and would need it on greyhound asap. Engine was supposed to go in tonight but I can't find it...

        Let me know please!!!

it is very highly unlikely that a 10k gtr will not have issues.

No guarantee a $20,000 dollar car won't puke something in 6 months either. Best bet if you dump it, buy something from a dealer that'll offer some sort of warranty.

Thanx alot vaderj, I'll probably take you up on the offer in the future. Where I live isn't where the car is at the moment, and I haven't had time to go out and work on her in a couple months. However, went this weekend to go do some work on her, took one look and decided to keep her lol. I was one of the guys that got hit hard by the recession, GTR ownership and poor finances don't go together.

Anyways, got a great job offer starting Sept. Should be able to start dumping money into her at that point. I guess till then she'll just have to sit there and look pretty. Also, as far as the booster cable issue goes, there is a connector right by the battery that looks a bit melted. Is that a fusable link? Will probably be on here often over the next few years asking stupid questions, so thanks in advance for any and all advice.
