Meh, my $6k Pulsar with 1.1bar is quicker that an R33 GTR with exhaust/intake/1bar haha. Makes me wanna sell the GTR, put 5k into the pulsar and the rest in a super duty truck!!Originally posted by gtrjon View Postwith your set up something really doesnt seem right with that at all...

I finally found some at my local CT. The shelf space where it sits is always empty, but there was a whopping 3 on the shelf this time. Was selling for $9.99, so I snagged one to hold me over for now. I've been back a few times and I never see more then a handful on the shelf.

Nope, straight 99.7% pure methanol (called MethalHydrate though because it has some water in it). It is supposed to be used to de-ice your fuel in small quantities and to de-ice air brake systems. I burn about half a gallon per tankfull with a gallon of Tolulene to give me a mix that will tolerate 24psi of boost and 32 deg. of ignition timing.Originally posted by menace View PostSweet thanks for the tip!
I assume that is the windshield washer fluid without detergents in it when you say "stocked up for winter"?
If I am feeling saucy I'll dump in 2 gallons and bump up my temp correction to give my whole fuel map a 20% increase across the board. This and the Tolulene gives me a huge safety factor when the outside temps are above 30 deg.
I am toying with the idea to put in 1600cc injectors and run a 40% Methanol mix for next year.
Jon.

what he said... i made 376awhp at 1 bar with -5's at RG's heartbreaker mustang dyno... and that was my break in tune... then made 510awhp at 28psi with water meth at RG afterwards...Originally posted by gtrjon View Postwith your set up something really doesnt seem right with that at all...

Nah,that's not bad. I made 300whp at 1 bar on -5s and I have, in my opinion, had pretty beefed up car.Originally posted by cobrAA View Postsadly, I only made 336whp , my tuner def. choked this one, I will need to talk to him tomorrow. its almost impossible to make that low of a number lol.

Any trouble tuning with it? I'm tempted to go that route with a single TB just to clean up that half of the engine.

Crappy Tire, $7 a gallon in the fall when they are stocked up for winter, I by about 10 of them and am all set up for next summer. I don't inject it, I just burn it in my fuel.

Thanks very much for the reply!
I live in Oakville, ON and I know you can get it from places like Home Depot even, but its something like $12 a gallon. I read that people are getting it from "speed shops" for as cheap as $2.50 per gallon.
I have Johnston Research & Performance pretty close to me but they are not known to be the cheapest shop. I'll check there since the hardware store jugs must be laced with gold flakes.Last edited by menace; 09-29-2011, 10:10 PM.

I just buy it by the box (4 jug of 3.78L I think) at Marshland, they seam to have the best price around here. Not sure about where you live tho.Originally posted by menace View PostWhere is the best place to pick up methyl hydrate? Also, when you guys mix it 50/50 with water, is that distilled water or just plain old tap water?
Thanks!
PS. I noticed that no one talked about using windshield washer fluid, there's a few people around my place using it. (It's basically meth already diluted, not sure what the percentage of meth is in them tho) It's cheap and easily accessible. I prefer going with the real stuff and making my own mix, but for people simply using meth has a security measure (not tuned for the meth), it's a good cheap alternative.Last edited by collector240sx; 09-29-2011, 09:53 PM.
