  • External wastegate!!

I am fairly new to this game and would appreciate your guys help, Ive been trying to research some stuff but not getting all the answers so I figured I'd ask myself,
    Correct me if I'm wrong..
I want a screamer pipe and from what I read its conntected to an external wastegate, how do I achieve this setup?!?! My knowledge is not that strog when it comes to this but I want to learn, I have Garret 2860r turbos

An internal waste gate inside the turbo will bleed the excess air pressure and dump it into the downpipe

An external waste gate is attached to the turbo manifold, not the turbo
The waste gate again will bleed off excess pressure that the turbo doesn't need except it bleeds it into the atmosphere.
The screamer pipe can be any size, just route it paralell to the down pipe and attach it to the waste gate
Now when you hit full boost the excess air pressure will SCREAM along side your motor

Got it, so to achieve this setup I wAnt I need to get a new turbo manifold that excepts external wastegates? Or does every type work?

Different manifolds/ custom fabrication or Convert your twin setup to a single with manifold and run one big screamer. LOts of $$$$$ for just a screamer pipe.
Traction is optional, so are zipties

These might be your best route
Twin dump pipes with the internal wastagate bleed off pipes (screamer pipe)
          Would still sound bad ass

              you're basically looking for this>

what I had done for my setup was :

              1. had a wastegate flange welded to my STOCK exhaust manifold
              2. Bought a Externally Gated Turbo
              3. had a custom screamer made

you can take the actuator and wastegate flap from your stock turbo and seal it using a back plate and run a external gate on your stock turbo dude.Check my build thread if you want to see pics "fat kids can have cool cars too"

Does anyone have a video of a GT-R running with a screamer pipe? I want to hear what it sounds like!

Those screamer elbows for OEM turbo sucks because the divider doesn't seal properly and will leak exhaust gases that come out of your turbine while spooling.

Here's what an external TiAL 38mm WG sounds like with a screamer on an RB20.

I have since gotten sick of the external dump (can't boost in public w/o being a nuisance) and have routed back in down pipe and I'm very happy with my decision; the honey moon was wearing off anyways.

                          I agree
My screamer pipe can definately be obnoxious in public
