R32 vs. R34

Things are going well with money these days and it sparked a vehicle related discussion with my wife and I. Basically I have a tentitive green flag to sell my current car and order an R34 GTR for 2014.
My debate is this:
My current car is in exceptional shape and performs wonderfully. It makes 317hp to the wheels and my last time attack I finished with FTD. I love it.
Do I keep I keep it and invest roughly $20G into it and have a great R32 or by a R34 that's going to be slower, look great but have to start all over again and with less available funds.
This should be an interesting debate. Love to hear what you all have to say.

I was also contemplating this but the r32 has such low resale value. The cost of the r34 would probably be 3x the amount of whatever you sell your r32 for.

The r34 is definitely desirable but starting from scratch on top of an already high initial cost isn't a very logical purchase if your r32 is in good shape. But then again, most logical people wouldn't buy a skyline in the first place

That seems to be the general consensus thus far. I would hope for around $16,500 for my car and would expect to pay around $40g for a decent R34.
I've also toyed with building a 1st gen Camaro pro touring car. Something about a twisted up small block and a muscle car that can do 1g on a skid pad.
Probably stick with the Skyline though.

So are you a FANBOY or do you love YOUR car? Or was there a direction you were heading when you first found out about the Nissan Skyline?
Did you ever think I'm going to get the 32, then the 33 then the 34? Or were you elated you got your dream car in the R32 NISSAN SKYLINE?
Or was it you just realized, "I want the R33 Yellow Bird from F&F... No wait I want Paul Walkers 34 from 2F&F and Fast & Furious!
Wait I don't know what I want, maybe a R35 one day!



Just do what the Frig you want!

It really depends what you're using the car for. The R34 will be a better road car, but the r32 is lighter and with the right mods, very capable on the track.
Enjoy whichever you choose!

What year is your R32? If it is 1989, then you're just in luck. Our American brothers can finally import R32 due to their 25 year rule!

Whatever money you make out of it will allow you to afford R34 easily. However, staring from scratch will be costly/painful..

Keep the 32 and buy whatever else you want. I like the way Bravo put it, I bought my 32 GTR because to me it was my dream car. Now I hope to in the next 5 years by a R35 but I will never part with the 32. If your that undecided then you must not really know what YOU really want. Flip a coin ?

if money is good then save a lil more..for the amount of time and money u put in your r32, is 16k worth it to see it drive away???thats gona hurt...save your money, save your r32, then buy the r34 when it comes out so your r32 has someone to play with

You should keep it. The BNR32 is a piece of racing history. I wont ever sell mine. Im just going to buy an R34 in years to come and build that up too!

look at it this way. idiots can now afford bnr32s because they are worth as much as hondas now. but due to the rarity and high initial cost of owning 34s less idiots will be in the gene pool thus separating you as a true enthusiast. if you can afford a 34 out right do it and in a few years you will be financially stable enough to put more into it and enjoy it. i would personally buy a 34 just to separate myself from the honda owners that we now have.

Personally prefer R32 over R34. If looks matter, I hear that POS VW powered one from Fast n Furious is for sale.

Track car -> built r32>r34

Street/daily -> r34>r32

Facts; the R32 is lighter than the 34; it as less electronics controls and is les convinient.
The R34 on its side, has a nice interior, exterior and has that "hey I have an R34" factor that the 32 will never have, it also has a Getrag 6spd. The 32 is kind of too common, but perform way to good to forget about it.

I would take a bayside blue w/ black LMGT4 or bronze TE37 R34 GTR anytime over an R35.

I'm going to have to respond to your reply directly "Bravo" as I'm no "Fanboy". I'm a 36 year old Marine Engineer that works on Submarines. I like almost all cars. A very good friend of mine from Japan (who's owned examples of any car you could ever want) said I needed to have one. I missed out on his and found the one I now own.
The car far exceeded my expectations.
Someone mentioned about the R32 now being affordable and common. I agree and this is another reason for a R34.
In addition track performance trumps street performance. I already have street cars.
