  • Overheating issues

    Hey guys,
I have recently bought a r32 GT-R (month ago) and recently ran into some overheating problems. After the engine has warmed up, driving at a slow enough speed to not get enough air flow into the intercooler I see the engine temperature rise up. Once I get up to speed on a highway it comes down to normal. When I park the car, it will piss itself with coolant, if it is hot enough. I have caught the coolant boiling in the reservoir on occasion.

Does anybody have any ideas or has experienced the same issue as me? I'm not to knowledgeable about the mechanics of the car but I'm slowly learning. Please help me!!!

    Thanks a bunch!

The coolant system might have been losing pressure. Check Rad Cap, Ping Holes, etc.

If you still have the clutch fan in there it could be toast. I was having that problem but caught it to late. Also try what's said above. You can wire up the AC fan to a switch to assist the car to stay cool.

My car also did the same thing once I turned the car off. You would hear it start to bubble then just pissssssssssss everywhere lol. So embarrassing! If you try all the things listed above and still have the same problem, I'd check over the stock oil cooler and water lines. After that would be to check the head gasket for leaks.

I think it's your clutch fan tho!

pressure test the coolant system, that will tell you if there is a leak or not. If there is, source the leak and repair it. If there isnt then drain the coolant, inspect and replace the thermostat while your at it and the rad cap. If you want to go as far as to check your water pump you can spend the time and take it out, or you can half ass it, take the rad hose off and rev the engine when cold with the thermostat out and see if the coolant is flowing out the engine.

There are only a few reasons why your coolant of overheating.
-Coolant passage blocked in the system stopping flow (usually thermostat)
-Air being introduced to the system (leak)
-No pressure in the system (rad cap)
            -old/improperly mixed coolant
            -Water pump not circulating coolant

              Hey thanks guys,
I checked the rad cap that was fine. I will troubleshoot all your guys' suggestions tomorrow morning.

You would hear it start to bubble then just pissssssssssss everywhere lol
