To my knowledge, you need a powerfc or some sort of new eecu to run map and theres no way in hell I will change my ecu.
Winner winner. Yes you will need a proper ecu to run map. You answered your own question. If you don't Wana solve the problem properly quit being a ricer and run no bovs. End thread

nevr thought that running no bov wouldn't hurt turbos (even BBs)!! As you say, may be it's a marketing thing... So the compressed air doesn't go back to turbos when throttle closes?

Oh OK... well I dont use Bb turbos so lol

I just though it was bad because of the surge and slowing down the turbo spinning....

              Fred,

Yes, the air will be forced backwards through the turbo. This will make a "bark" noise which will probably be louder than most BOV you've heard. Also, it will force it back past the MAFs which will momentarily cause the engine to run rich. However, this does have a cooling effect on the pistons so it's not necessarily a bad thing.

I have run no BOVs since I've owned this car - about 1.5 years and who knows how long before that. I've never had an issue with it and have never planned to put BOVs on it.

is there any benefit to running bov? i know that on the track pros dont like them because it relives pressure and costs time to spool back up, ive also heard that turbos spinning backwards can a lot of damage!?

So... one BOV was full of oil ( catchan installed 2 weeks ago) so might opened too easily and the other one was jammed ( not working) this should explain why I had problems lol..

I will go one atmo and one oem next week.

I run no bov I'm my 95 gtst, Sounds cool but takes a lil longer for the turbo to spool back up.
Sounds like a loud flutter, it's delicious!

Forge or Synapse BOV's. Same tech, except I think Forge have a slightly different design.

Running no BOV does damage to centre section of turbo's (Garrett mentions it does) due to the violent speed up and down. Also ask a turbo rebuilder who has to rebuild them. Non ballbearing CHRA can take it better than ballbearing. Nismo R35GTR runs without BOV's on racetrack, but gearbox changes gears quickly, so turbo's are kept spooled up during gearchanges. Also I think R35GTR stock turbo's are non ballbearing.

I end up using one vented and one oem.. seems to work just fine.

didnt read any true dynosheet gain on vented vs oem. so I decide to keep one vented.
