Boost starts to kick around the 5000rpm mark and yes it does sound like an aeropolane when it spools.
We did a back to back comparison with a TO4Z on a 2.6 VS T51R on a 2.8 (customer's old setup vs new). And in regards to when the turbo starts to come into play its much the same.
A guy i know here in quebec bough this car from SP engineering in the states, made 880 whp....and has an os giken transmission. I went fore a ride in it, its rediculess how it sounds.. Launch control, and oh yeah, also has a 2.8l stroker!
Turbo tech/design has changed a lot in the past 5 year, theres better cheaper options. The t51 is super JDM cool, but theres better options. The EFR are pretty good, precision turbo, garrett has a few new ones, look around the t51 is also super expensive.
Precision is probably the best bang for the buck. There's actual proof and tests completed out there that compared them to the similarly rated EFRs and Garrett which were slightly laggier and less peak power. You'd have to google that can of worms. As for the Garrett GTX, they're good and on hand, precision is also available on the shelves but the EFRs are not. Orders still take 4-8 months and it's been out for almost 3 years or something? Some failures were found in the smaller EFRs but no word on the larger ones. If I were you, I'd go with the tried, true and proven on the net. Precision ftw.

start by having A ROLLING GTR then we talk u ******* mofo funzy little *****
For street use the T51r is rather big, specially in a 2.6.
Going on numerous touge runs with a friends 2.8 rocking a 51r kai the cars pretty much usless.
Go for a midrange monster!
We are seeing alot of good results with PTE (they love the PSI)over here, and I think ill eventually ditch the twin setup and settle for one of them. Having a billet front wheel, no waterline neatness and dual ceramic ballbearings sounds like WIN to me.
