  • GMB N1 water pump

Does anyone know if the GMB N1 water pumps from japan are any good? I have been trying to look up reviews on them but have come up with nothing. I've been looking for timing belt kits for my Rb26 and came across one that came with the gmb pump. Does anyone have this pump on their car? should i just get a genuine N1 water pump or would this be ok?

    Cheers

Never heard of GMB , i used a genuine N1 pump - wouldn't risk any thing else . The real one was groves in the mounting face to hold silicon and doesnt use a paper gasket . It also has a slotted bolt hole where the smallest bolt passes through. The GMB one doesnt for some reason .

GMB is a big aftermarket manufacturer of lots of parts...bearings, tensioners, pumps etc. the quality of their products are very good.
But for me, nothing can beat OEM.

the GMB water pump i seen on ebay is made in japan but the price isnt much different than the N1 so i guess that solves it.

thanks for the heads up i did not notice that. from what ive seen the larger 6 blade impellers are the same on the GMB as the N1 but other than that im still not quite sure. im not one that likes to a chance on something i dont know much about so ill get the genuine N1 instead Only reason why i considered getting it was because the pump came with a timing belt all seals and tensioners.

Are you doing a lot of racing? If so the N1 might be more suitable. If you are mostly street driving then I'd go with the standard pump. The N1 is not stronger or better than the standard, it's just geared for more higher rpm usage. Again, its not stronger or better, so choose the one which best suits your application.

I've used GMB components for years. Zero issues. They are new not rebuilt and very good quality. Ask yourself this. If you drove a 90 iroc and the water pump went. Would you go to your GM dealer our NAPA?
                        You can't fix stupid.

I plan on doing a lot of racing as soon as my gtr is done so I need to get an N1.

For sure I would get the GMB pump instead of one from GM or Napa. I personally have had a lot of bad experiences with Napa and I know getting the pump from GM would cost an arm n a leg lol.
