    Hi all,

    I am upgrading the sensors and electricals setup on my car. Do you guys know where is the best place to install a EGT sensor for a RB26? I want to know both twin turbo and single turbo setup. For twin turbo will be stock exhaust header, aftermarket dump pipe (HKS, Tomei, Mine's) and Mine's front pipe. For single turbo will be Trust T78/T88 series package.

    I am doing tuning myself with Water/Meth Injection and AEM dynoshaft and want to get to the limit before melting the internals. So yeah it is important that I can get the most accurate reading.

    Recommendation on the brands of EGT will also be appreciated.

    Between the exhaust port and the turbine. Use one for a single setup and spend the dough and use two for the twins. There is no other way to get accurate EGTs on twins. If you really can't afford that or don't have the space for two gauges then you can either put one in the common area of the rear manny closer to #6 so that you can moniter the infamously lean cyl or you can get an anilog dual needle gauge from the aerospace industry (for piston prop planes). Any plane parts supply place on the net can supply you with one, there's a ton of them. If you get the full kit, you get a gauge and two probes for about $200 to $300 iirc.

      If I drill a hole right at the #6 exhaust header runner, will I disrupt the airflow? and, can the sensor take such heat?

          Good post's Dragon Humper.

          I would think wideband on each runner, especially if have individual cylinder fuel, ignition trim feature (to get the most hp from each cylinder and correct tuning problems because of intake manifold design). Exhaust temp can be done further down exhaust (around where cat is, like factory does with cat overheat sensor), although exhaust temperature should change (slightly cooler) as it travels along exhaust and be slower with response to temperature change. Should get faster response closer to engine, so between engine, turbo is probably best.

          What dynoshaft did you use, as don't you have to buy a yoke with it???

              And how is it possible to do individual cylinder tuning for a RB!? I heard something like the wideband read cylinder pulses and be able to tell A/F of each cylinder with ONE O2 sensor.

                  It would come in handy, as can tweek car at racetrack with real loads, not simulated by dyno, as dynoshaft takes weight of car into account which a dyno doesn't (why most road tune after dyno tuning) and there's no drivetrain loses (LSD, etc).

                  I was looking into it myself, but then realised you need a custom yoke for Skyline driveshaft or at least room between back of gearbox and yoke on driveshaft. That might require removing dust shield (piece of round metal to protect rear oil seal from dust, etc) on some cars.

                  Also need the datalogger as well, not just dynoshaft itself. They say can run off a power gauge as well (not sure if that needs the datalogger), but better to have a plot on chart via datalogger.

                  I have seen the multiple wideband setup on I think was a EVO dragcar. One would assume there's multiple graphs in datalogger software (one graph for each wideband).
