  • Hankook Vs BFG's Vs Falken ...

Currently riding on Falken FK452's (245/35/18) and tough to say if they are good or not since they were pretty much cooked when I bought my car last fall.

Looking to replace with something likely from this short list:
    • Falken FK452
    • Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110
    • BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2

I have experience with Hankooks and BFG's on other cars (along with some Toyo's and a few others). I'm leaning towards the Hankooks but the load rating on them is really high compared to the Falken's and BFG's. I had them on an Impala SS but it was a heavy tank of a car (the tires were amazing on that car btw). I Ran some Toyo's on my 300ZX T and they were great on that.

Anybody here running any of the above tires and have a review based on installation on an R32 GTR?

I don't track my car (yet) and looking for a good compromise between grip, noise, ride comfort. I don't care about wear that much since this is not my DD.

Edit: My local tire guy who I have likely purchased 10-15 sets of tires from over the years says Falken's are not very good tires

my buddy at work had the same dilema for his 400whp BMW 135i,

i told him to go with the hankook V12 since it seemed to have the best performance/ride/durability/price ratio
theyr on the car now, just waiting for the snow to go away to test them

BFGoodrich tyres have stronger, flatter looking sidewalls (sidewall inserts and they reduce bodyroll by alot over the Falkens) and a slightly harsher ride, fairly quiet (only time you hear road noise is when going over a harsh surface). Falkens had a softer ride (rounded sidewall), but the bodyroll was too much for my liking, but lasted 50,000km.

I'm running Hankook RS3s on my GTR and love them for the street and track but suck in the rain.
I've got the V12s on my Legacy 3.0R that's mostly street driven and on the track a couple times. Excellent in all street conditions and OK on the track.

I used to have the Bfg some time ago but find them somewhat noisy and not super grippy. Have since gone to Lorenza re11/01r which were better all around except for price.

I'd try the falken if I was on a budget

I had the V12's on my GTR for two years, very good on the street, OK on the track, still lots of tread left when traded away. If it's just for DD they are a good choice.

Agreed, I got them lol, good for street, but really greasy in the rain. After some research, I found overall the Dunlop Direzza Sport Star Spec's had the best overall rating. Sadly they are discontinued this year, but I think they now have a similar tire, I need to put some new boots on my GTR this summer too so I'll be watching this thread.

Sidenote: I had a pair of Falkens on my fronts for about a week or so, not bad but really soft compound. I felt the car understeering or "pushing" through hard turns as they give a little more bodyroll than desired.

I've tried all three of these tires! I've only owned the KDW's though. I really like the KDW's performance but they were VERY loud. I would disagree in the wet as mine where great... The V12s are unbeatable bang for the buck though for a sporty DD, so that is my value minded pick. I only breifly drove the falken's but they were much quiter then the other two but it was tested on a different car so take that with a grain of salt. In summary:
KDW my personal no compromise fav
V12, best value for sure, great all around
                    452's more luxury minded.

Overall Winner V12's based on price and performance.

                      How about these bad boys.......

The tread looks really good, the Ventus R-S3 looks good too, good reviews and relatively cheap.

why do people compare those 3 tires to Star Specs / RS3 / RE11, its totally not the same category, its like comparing apples and oranges

                          so the obvious answer to ;
                          what should i get between A B or C, is... 7

Sounds like setup problem (overpowering grip of tyres) or alignment problem (something loose causing alignment to change or alignment is out).

And the BFGs I suggested are brand spanking new to the market...I would hazzard to guess that they represent the latest tire tech from no more than a year ago. The BFGs you had Nismo, were most likely a tech from 10 years ago. BFG doesn't come out with a new tire all that often but when they do it's usually quite comparable to anything on the market at the time.

The more I look at the the Ventus R-S3 the more I like them, the price point is hard to beat for a tire that will get you to and from the track and hold up to track and street duty without wearing out in 1000km. I wish they made them in a 245/50r16 for my GTR wheels, I think they would do well at the drag strip as well.
