Hey I was wondering is anyone could help me decided what turbos to run on my R32 GTR I'm not sure if I should get a set of 2860-5's or if I should get a set of 2871r's any help on spool times/power out put would be nice
Thanks
Hey thanks for that I was looking on fr just not sure what kinda power they will make I'm thinking the little extra lag for the 2871r's might be worth it ?? Can anyone confirm what the spool times of either of the turbos is ?
this turbos will put out 600hp safely, not sure what spool times they have though because it all comes down to how good your tuner is honestly. But spending 2k on turbos for only a max around 600hp is a little expensive IMO. I would spend extra money and go single turbo. Just save some extra coin, you'll be way happier in the end i promise. Thats what am doing right now
I had a t78 and I did not like it the spool times where horrible so I parted out all of my single to help pay for my rebuild now I have a stroked 2.8l and wanna make 600awhp or more with a fast spool time
-10's are too laggy/shuffle on 2/6 but on 2.8 would be ok. Lag and big power and hand in hand, vise versa.

Need cams (260 duration Poncams or Tomei Procam with Tomei lifters, Tomei valve springs, Tomei shims, etc which are better), adjustable camgears, open up exhaust fully, HKS or Garrett adjustable internal wastegates, electronic boost controller, ECU tune to suit to help spool them earlier.
I guess I should have said a little more about my build that's my bad
I have a ported and polished head with tomei 270 pro cams and a tomei 2.8l stroker kit I wanna make 600 awhp minimum with as little lag as possible so that's why I'm undecided on the turbos I'm going to run. From what I hear 2860's have full boost around 3300-3500???? If I'm wrong please tell me I wanna make sure I pick the right turbos for my build
And if that's where they get full boost would it be worth the added lag and do the set of 2871r's ?
Don't take this as hate or praise, just some info.
Many of us want fast spooling huge power GTRs but it's not that simple. Thankfully you have a $7000 2.8l stroker kit so that will help (not much more that a $2000 forged 2.6 though when looking at bang for buck). Had you gone rb30, it would have cost around the same as the 2.8L but better...'
What are you building the car for? Can your support mods handle the torque and power like if the transmission can handle the power you want?
Anyway, it sounds like you want -7 response with -10 power. I'd suggest going -5 (laggier, full boost by 4000-4500 or so depending on your support mods but can reach 600whp), get water meth or nos and turn the boost higher if you want more. HKS 2530 are probably want you need. They're less than $4500 and can get big power and response.
Actually I think I know a guy that has a used set of 2530s for sale.

i love how people say "reach full boost at such and such rpm" well that really does depend on a lot of things... i hit 28psi on -5's at 4900 rpm which i thought was a bit high... mods include: procams 270 10.25, tomei type A springs, tomei lifters, port & polished head, tomei exhaust mani's and turbo dumps, big hks intercooler, stock intake, 3.5 inch exhaust no restriction (ie. cat or res) running water meth twin medium injectors right into the intake mani, balanced and blue printed forged bottom end, PFC D-Jetro... etc etc etc... so if i had a little more displacement i'd still go -5's cause i would guess they'd spool faster to reach your target PSI and they are def enough turbo for what your looking for imo...
just bought the 2860-5 so far i cant complain and i still didnt tune yet but they also cost me an arm and an leg 2400 by the time they got to my door..
