So i just had a brand new oem nissan tensioner **** the bed on me with less than 10k on it. Anyway while im at it im going to swap the belt which also has less than 10k but oh well. Just looking for some input on the three readily available timing belts for rb26s. Currently I am running a greddy and there is nothing wrong with it just looking to see what most people run and why. Trying to decided if the tomei is worth the extra coin or not and if the greddy is actually any stronger than oem.

Hmm that's nuts! Before I decide on a new timing belt I would probably find the source of the failure. Think the stud or the tension was too tight? It's possibly that a new belt might not fix the issue...No build thread.

I think Greddy, Tomei, HKS and Nismo are all pretty similar in construction and materials. They are stronger than OEM, but whether you need that much strength depends on the build.RightDrive Inc. Parts Manager

The rule of thumb with cam belts is do NOT reuse a belt once run and the tension has been released from it .
The high end after market belts are designed to have more durability and strength for high lift cams and mult- valve springs . If you run stock cams ( or close to stock I.E. poncams by tomei ) stock valve gear and are not revving past 8000 rpm then oem will be fine as you are not putting any more stress on the belt than you would on a stock engine , and going with the more expensive units does not necessarily yield a more reliable operation.
