  • R32 GTR how prices will be affected?

I'm curious as to how you guys think the prices of R32s will be affected with the U.S being able to import soon and R34s in Canada. Since more are going to be coming to North America could this decrease the value of them since they won't be as rare here? Or could it drive the price up as there will be a higher demand for them in Japan?

If I follow my university economic class's logic. price will go up as demands will go up but offer can't go up ( because nissan dont make it anymore so offer can only go down).

However, I can see all the canadians selling their r32 and r33 in order to get r34... this is.. if they have the extra 20k for a r34.

My bet, it will most likely stay within this price give or take 10-15%

      It all depends on demand....

If the Yanks are gobbling GTRs up like crazy the price will double. LEGAL R32s go for $50k there now (hell GTS-Ts and GTS25s go for $40k) so $30k would be a discount for them and double what they go for here. Again, depends on demand. If the furor isn't much then prices will go up about $5k just from the fact that there will be a new market and not only are they not making any anymore but the ones that are left are being parted out on a regular basis.

Both really good responses I do think the U.S will be going crazy for r32s I'm wondering if most won't come get them from Canada rather then importing which would also increase the price. Not sure how there 25 year rule works if they will only be able to bring over the 1989 r32s or if it's any year r32

It seems sensible that since us Mericans are going to want one RIGHT NOW (like myself) we're going to be willing to pay more for what is finally legal. But, as the fad of being the "first to legally import" dies away and the fanbois get what they want, I feel the price will begin to level out and potentially drop a bit a few years down the road lower than that of what they are worth now as more will start to come from over seas.

How did it work for you guys up there? I'm sure after you saw the first few R32s come in at stupid prices there was that drop in value once the R33 became 15yo.

This also kind of peaks my interest quite a bit. There are quite a few factors that may come into play as far as value goes for the R32 up there Canadiuh..

With R34's becoming available is everyone going to sell off their 32's? Maybe this could put it into basic perspective.
"I have my iPhone 3(R32) & kept it for quite some time now till my upgrade was finally available now I can get my iPhone 5(R34) so im going to sell my iPhone 3(r32) stupid cheap cause I don't need it anymore."

Or it could have a total reverse effect where people will try to wax us "Yanks" on a 32 to get their 34 here.

IDK I'm honestly just rambling because I just took a 5 hour energy shot at work. I'm a car salesmen, It's Tuesday, and I have nothing better to do than sit at my desk and tickity tick tick away at my keyboard to you CanCans.

(BTW who ever has the earliest model R32 that will be for sale when we can get it, come to me. I'm going to be flying up there with intent to buy. I will meet with you personally with cash in hand to close a deal. I will be driving it across the boarder to avoid all S&H bull shitake and have everything at customs taken care of. hopefully.)

this is the end of my rant
            Cheers

In the begining the prices were a bit high, but that was because people didnt know any better and were buying the best of the best because they were accustomed to how cars are in North America. In Japan a car like the GTR would have had mosly dealership maint. and are in really good cond. with 100,000km on the clock.

There arent many '89s around in Japan that arent of Zele International quality. I sat in a '90 in their Kanagawa store and it was $42k....granted it only had 140km on it (yes 140, it was perfect). So a really good cond. '89 is going to be $20k out of Japan. The crap ones are either crushed or in Canada....lol.

I'm coming to Canada to get mine, already spoke with customs as far as what will need to be done at the border for me to keep my Zilla from getting crusheded. things are looking kosher. If anyone has an 89 they're looking to sell soon throw her my way. HAS to be the original rb20 that came in the car from the factory as in NUMBERS MATCHING or she will be crushed

I'm currently stationed in Tokyo, Japan and I'm bringing my 1989 GTR back with me as well as a 1989 300ZX twin turbo on the American government's dollar. I think the price will rise for the GTR. Since I have been in Japan I've seen the price of all 1989 skyline models rise significantly. I purchased mine for 5,000USD and there isn't a rolling shell for that price in the country

Haha if only it was that simple. At the rate the prices are rising and I'm sure they're gonna boost the import prices to, your beat bet would be to go north to canada and get one

You dont need to prove that as very few manufactures in the world have the VIN included in the number stamped on the block to make it "numbers matching". IIRC Nissan never did that either. Even if they did I would hazzard to guess that only half of the cars out there have the orig. motor. That seems odd to me anyway, what would be the point of the 25 year law if they start getting all picky about that stuff. Our gov. could give a flying rats arse if the motor is orig. on a 15 year old "classic" car.

It doesn't matter that dude doesn't know what he's talking about and they would not be "crushed" either they would just be denied entry.

This is a good question. US legal GTR's go for alot of money, depending on their condition. The R33's were the only ones that were allowed in for conformance. There are a handfull of R32's and R34's here that were grandfathered in.
The all command a premium as of now.
Ive been following preorder sales from several importers here in the states for 89's. They are not asking much depending on the cars condition. R grades preorder cars are selling between $5-$10KUSD as of now. That includes all imoportation taxes, shipping, and title work. Essentially after the "fad" goes away, they most likely end up staying dirt cheap. That is unless it is trully a collector car, like a GRADE S, or near perfect car. Theyll be purchased by collectors to sit on their garages.

As an owner of several Bond released cars, I can only hope these car stay keep their current US values. Sadly, they most likely will not.
I think you see these on the trailerpark forum Zilvia selling for next to nothing, to kids who cannot afford to build/repair them. The same ones that would hellaflush a GTR "Cause it looks cool"
