  • Trying to create the perfect R32 cockpit

Ok, i'm still a long ways from getting gauges and stuff to fix my driver layout but just wanted to start a thread to store ideas and see if anyone else had any.

I'm looking to create a balance between pure race function and clean street looks in the cabin.

So I'll start with showing what it looks like now:

To me this is far from what i want it to be.

    Don't like:
    -Way too rice
    -mismatched fugly gauges
-old electronic modules that probably aren't even used
-not a fan of ricer shift light
-not a fan of side pod
-don't like gauges where air vents are supposed to be

    Want
    -climate controls in center console
    -sound deck in center console
-easy line of sight to important data (what do people feel are the top 3 gauges to have in easy line of sight?)

I like having the boost in the center on the column like this http://www.importtuner.com/features/.../photo_14.html

Also like the bolted on gauge plates on the 80's mustangs. Might do something like this with pieces of black aluminum:

Really like the look of Omori gauges:

    And HKS

As far as layout so far I'm thinking

    Center console
Top din = Oil pressure, EGT, A/F
Middle din = sound head unit
    bottom din = climate controls

PFC control unit stuck to dash somewhere in line of sight to monitor battery voltage and other misc details

    I like vlad's layout.

Still have use of all the vents but see everything you need to at the same time.
I believe he has A/C unit relocated to the center console however. Maybe you odn't like that? I don't know personally yet, but i thought the thing just used a thermostat so set and forget sorta deal

Ive recently de-riced mine over the past year as it was filled with mis matched gauges and un-used old electronics.

Here is where I am at now.

      -Nismo Steering Wheel
-Old school Nismo Shift knob (not shown)
      -60mm HKS boost gauge
      -60mm HKS Water Temp Gauge
-46mm HKS Oil temp, Ext. temp and oil pressure (Din mounted)
-HKS Turbo Timer (custom 3d printed enclosure)

I am installing my deck in the glove box ( cant stand how every cd player looks like it belongs in a spaceship) and have a storage compartment / cupholders from a pathfinder to also mount in the centre stack

i would take the cluster apart and put all new gauges in there if i was to doi it again. the oem tach, oil pressure, boost, speedo theyre all ****. so instead of just adding to the **** thats already there.. get rid of them. im pretty sure theyre might even be some companies where you could send your cluster away and get new gauges put in and sent back with new sensors for each gauge.

That's what I'm wondering as well. I'd like to reduce redundancy with gauges and replace the stock ones with something more accurate. Anyone done this before?

S13Jordie, really like your setup. what mounts did you use for the 2 gauges on the column?

hozer, very nice! like the fighter jet / weapon feel to it.

I like yours too nimblestix, i'd go swith slightly smaller gauges to still fit 3 across in the din slot though =\. i kinda wanna end up with boost oil temp water temp and wideband when i'm finished so don't need quite that many gauges either. What are all yours?

If I had to replace everything including the main cluster I'd do VDO guages for all. Kinda 80's porsche look

This is sick too, kinda like this but it means I'd have to have hvac and stereo controls in the glove box or armrest console

Sometimes us low-budget stockers have a nice setup too.

I made them myself on the CNC router we have at work but I think I am going to redo them so they are a little less bulky.

I want! Seems like I've seen this on other r32's , is this a copy of something? Eastbear? HKS? or maybe i'm imagining things

haha, i guess this is turning into a "show you setup" thread. Which is totally cool. carry on
