  • Trunk springs from a GTST

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone knows if GTST trunk springs are the same spring rate as the GTR springs? I can't find an answer anywhere online.

the spring rates for a GTR would be higher because of the weight the spoiler is heavier.

Alright that's kind of what I was thinking but wasn't 100% sure. Thanks.

I'd be very surprised if Nissan made a particular set of springs just for the Gtr.

the part number is different for the gtr model with spoiler, the gtr wing was the oddball wing that weighed more than any other. the gts, gts t and gts 4 with wing all use the same p/n except the gtr. difference is gtr ends in 05u10 and the rest all end in 05u00

I can't see how the weight of a spoiler would cause a change in spring rate.

With 4wd it requires less squat when launching, so the spring rates would be higher in the rear of a GTR.

R32 GTS-T rear spring rates are somewhere around 2-3kgm from memory, front is around 4kg/m.

From memory Nismo spring rates for R32 GTS-T are 5.3kgm front, 3.9kgm rear.

The swaybar diameter usually mirrors the spring rate in a factory car (In some cases it doesn't), so is another indicator of the spring rates being higher in the rear of a GTR.

Best way to know is take both sets of springs to a suspension specialist and get them to test on spring rate testing machine.

we're talking about the trunk lift springs, that prop the trunk open. not the suspension side of things

I put a GTR spoiler on my R32 gtst and the trunk doesn't open much at all and only stays open when the cars level, if that helps.

could be the salty nova scotia air impeding the fluid dynamics of the trunk, kidding. but i think the springs are different, real talk.
