Exportation companies in Japan will put priority in the hands of US importers. Those smart enough to withhold 1989-93 GTRs and GTSTs in Japan did so for a reason; the US market has never seen this car, prices can be fixed as they were when they arrived in Canada. Remember, GTR's went for as high as 20 some odd thousand in Canada when they first arrived. If Skylines were still available in Quebec, they'd be at a reasonable cost; inflation has lowered and stabilized.

Now, in terms of US markets that boast a population approx 7 times our own, meaning, more interest in these vehicles per capita than in Canada. This also means that they can fix prices higher, as interest will lead to bidding wars, and eventually a peak inflation will be reached as it once was here. If we take into account the amount of people interested, cars alloted or even available, we're talking 25,000$+ in some cases for grade A cars.. If exporters can grab a little extra $ by selling for a few bucks more to their US importers, they will, meaning left over stock of R32 Skylines will likely never see Canadian soil, especially Quebec.

This is merely speculation on my behalf, but that's just how i see it.. If i were in import/export, i wouldn't hesitate to cut Canada out of the picture to make a decent buck.. Japanese imports in Canada are in circulation; their main thing to establish now is a good parts market and labour to fill the steady demand. The states is about to bloom, and there has been excitation over this for years, it will be 4-5 years of solid revenue...
Actually, interest per capita isn't necessarily higher in the states. To calculate that, you'd have to survey the entire population to gauge interest. In fact, we'd have to assume interest per capita is approx the same, making TOTAL interest higher.

Also, It's not canada that we're talking about, it's only quebec that cant has the 25 year rule right now. With all the jdm car shops that have been out of business for 2 years, im willing to bet they will pay premium rates to have stock on 1989 vehicles again. How else will they survive?

    buy a 2002 Civic
He's right, resale will be at par with your purchase price.

Not to mention, you throw some red emblems on that beast, a fart can, P-FLOWWWW, and tabernac, you sell hhhittt for like a tousand dollhairs more!

No but seriously, it's a good point hah. And they'll do 600 km a tank wot at just under 40$ a fill.. Pretty economical..

Plus you need to realize that selling a Skyline in QC is final sale. Chances of finding another are slowly diminishing with more and more VGA's every year and the inability to re-register them.. Keeping it will yield a higher sale price in the long term..

    I'll talk to Steve.. hah

Just think all that money you put into the skyline you'll never see it back if you sell the car. Parting out is a better idea but that still sucks.

Just get another car like a 2002 Civic or something and next summer sell it. I can almost guarantee that for wtvr you buy a 2002 Civic for now, you can sell it in march/april for the same amount.
