Well I figured I would start a build thread... I havent done much to my car since I got it about a month ago, but I do have many plans so I figured I'd start my thread and then slooowlly work on it as I sloowlly build it up.

So here it goes... along with my story

I've wanted a Skyline ever since I was quite young. Everyone was always telling me not to get one because of how expensive the parts are and how hard it is to find them ... so I was always just keeping the idea in my head and never acting on it. I went through a couple cars... all were given to me for free so I wasnt complaining. First one was an old Corolla... Second was a Honda CRX... I was never happy with them.. EVER... but I used them as my learner cars... learned how to work on cars and learned as much as I could about modifying cars with my CRX mainly.

See, most people think its strange that a girl likes to work on cars.. I think its strange that not many girls like to work on cars...

Thing is...

When I was in elementary school.. hmm I was probably 9 or 10 years old.. I was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis in my knees (2 years later it spread to my jaw). I was told that I wouldnt be able to participate in gym class, couldn't keep playing field hockey (which I loooved) couldn't wakeboard anymore, couldn't run around with my friends at lunch time... would end up in a wheel chair by the time I graduated from highschool. ...brutal doctor hey?

All those 'couldn't do this and that' sentences made me want to do it even more.. wanted to prove them wrong.. so thats why I have gotten this attitude towards cars... guys say to me 'a girl cant own a Skyline, let alone work on cars...' ... Well, I was also told I would be in a wheel chair by now, and I wouldn't be able to play field hockey (I went on to play on the National Canadian Field Hockey team while in highschool... along with many high performance teams and traveling teams..)

SOOO I guess I just like to prove people wrong haha... so hopefully you guys think its cool that I own this car!

I finally own my dream car.

looking good! glad you got your problems under control, with the car i mean lol! Not like the emotional problems my car causes me...

If you decide to go top mount, go big single, but the car loses it's original focus in doing that ...I kind of like the idea of the stealthy looking engine bay...even though everyone knows its a GTR and what it's capable of.

i would start with clutch intake and exhaust. then i would go for AEM EMS and scrap those MAFs with a nice map sensor and boost solenoid to control and hold boost to perfection. more constly then the usual power FC but well well worth the extra 1000$ you will not be dissapointed. as far as upgrading turbos and intercooler as you stated, those are one of the last upgrades i would do. #1 on the priority list would be to make sure your car is running 100% and can easily support the power you want to make. A lot of people make the mistake of slapping on bigger turbos or single big turbo and then poof there goes a bunch of **** that ends up costing a fortune. i would start with the basics that i mentioned on top. then i would move on to a bottom end build. im personally going with either a tomei or HKS full counter-crankshaft with eagle rods and weisco or CP pistons. then the ATI damper and tomei baffle and oversized oil pan and most probably a better front and back differential. then i would progress to a head job. bigger cams, porting, springs and guides etc etc. after that i would move on to the forced induction. with an AEM its not really nessesary to change your plenum because you can tune the single injector (unless you want more then 800 awhp and still in the old days japanese used OEM plenum on 900+ hp cars) I would upgrade the fuel system ie: pump injectors fuel rail and lines then bigger intercooler and finally turbos. keep in mind that after 600 awhp you will need to upgrade your gearbox. theres an OS giken rebuild set for the BCNR33 transmission that you can pick up i think 3000$ which isnt cheap but isnt expensive in comparisson to the sequential boxes. IN MY OPINION i would stay away from splitfires and stick to OEM. I most likely forgot a few things and if i remember ill post them but anyways thats my .02$ if theres anything else i can help you with please dont be shy

An ECU that's actually easy to tune, and you don't need a special titanium tipped plug to run the program? AEM is a great ECU but so unpractical because almost no one is able to tune it.

Anyways, stick with a Apexi Power FC, works great for most people! =]Supports mafs or Maps' whatever you choose to do

To obtain 500whp, you're going to be looking at dumping some serious money. Ex. New turbos, big injectors, etc.. Who said building a gtr was going to be cheap. A new clutch is a must since a stock clutch won't be able to handle that kind of power. I think its safe to say, those who have built for that kind of hp level and beyond, also did a full motor rebuild, you might want to look into that. We dont want that infamous oil pump/crank failing or the leaning out from the back cylinders, so a healthy rb26 is a must.
