By any chance did your car have an apexi controller in it ? I was looking at one there with those specs but it had massic injectors and looked really scary.

way to **** on the guy's day guys.

          to the op:

at that price you really cant lose, even if the motor does go, you can be stupid and buy a nur motor and it will still be cheaper than most gtr's on the market, as long as theres no frame damage you've scored yourself a pretty good deal.

if the motor does blow however, i would not be stupid and put in a nur motor.

          rebuild it with forged internals!

Put the car on a hoist and check to see if there is a weld going right down the middle of it reattaching 2 cars into one. Also now that you have changed the fluids do a compression check again..but more important a leak down test. Also make your mechanic check the oil pump to make sure it is not leaking and it attached securly. Trust me on the last one

i was talking to another import garage who is on this site, one of thee most reputable ones in my opinion, and he told me that they are currently under the suspicion that tiger cars are stolen cars in japan and thats why they have little to no paperwork

also we talked about there odo rollbacks, and overall sketchy business practice

                  to the op

sorry for crapping on your parade, its not my intentions

i have heard of a small handful of people who bought from t jap and thinsg went well afterwards, ended up with a good deal

just be careful and maintain the hell out of that gtr

at 8,000 its a steal no matter what

you could part it and make more back

                      lol...

My advice is general maintenance, look for fuel leaks, listen for knock, feel for hesitation, make sure afrs are good and then take it to the track :P

THIS is your car and it doesn't nessesarily mean its gonna explode just cuz others blew it. for starters you dont know how those people drove their cars for it to blow or how previous unknown drivers of the car in japan drove it. i wouldnt worry about it too much seeing as you can get a very good bottom end rebuild for under 4k these days with machine work and very good quality parts. If it comes to a rebuild well...in the end how many people get a built GTR for 12k? just look at it that way congrats again man and welcome to the gtr comunity.
they do bring in the odd good quality car once in a while. however thats not the case with this one. it is a deal for the price though.

                        @op
just do all the preventive maintenance and check for any leaks and stuff that might be loose. also people like to break in the cars at tiger jap or it happens before they even get to canada. so just check to see that everything is ok. my friends motors got crapped. one of them spun a bearing after a week, the other i cant remember exactly. both of them ended up doing a rebuild and the cars are running amazing now. just dont beat on the car til you check everything and i mean everything.

thanks for all the advice guys... i figured buying a GTR for 8 grand obviously had some issues... im not buying it cause i know its in great shape...

the cars interior was destroyed and has deffinatly been broken into and stuff was stolen.

im hoping the car was super cheap because of the shitty interior.... the motor seems to run well right now and i have done alot of the maintanance you guys have suggested. i will be doing a build no matter what when i can afford it.....

as for underneeth the car i have never seen sucha clean undercarage on a 91 in my entire life so thats a pretty encouraging factor......

                          91 GTR - 04 G35c - 91 celica.....

If you knew anything about autobody you would know you'll never see this. If you were to clip a car you would use the factory seams and spot weld sites. It would be pretty hidden.

Best place to check would be the C pillars, and door openings.
