  • Project: Stealth GTR

Well I guess enough people know. so Im starting a project thread. I bought this car from Tiger Japanese. Its my favorite color as its a black GTR clean. Car has 124,000kms on it. they are actual kms verified by markings around the car and a couple odd reciepts found in between the seats and the door cards. Car is in great shape has minor front end accident history shown by rough paint on the front fenders, frame is perfectly straight and the re bar is original and un changed so that's good. And best part of all its mostly stock nothing really changed and even has the original boost restrictor. so never been over boosted and the engine shows that. Nice to drive something with power without trying. So yeap.

    Current Mod list:
    Apexi Intake
    Blitz wheels
EBC green stuff pads with badly grooved rotors
    Apexi Jasma approved exhaust.

    Work to be done:
New CV boots to replace torn ones
New oil pressure sending unit to replace faulty one
    New water pump
    New idlers
    New tensioner
    New timing belt
All new gaskets with nissan gasket kit
    ARP head studs
    Nismo thermostat
    New oem nissan front rotors
    New Samco rad hoses.
repalce all coolant lines and clamps with new hose and clamps
replace all vacum lines with new hoses and clamps
Get timing belt cover rocker covers intake manifold powder coated
New coolant an doil lines for the turbo some flex lines to make changing them for bigger ones in the future easier.
    Apexi AVCR
    New alcantra(sp?) shift/e-brake boots.

The goal: TO take my near perfect compression motor and make it run flawlessly and enjoy a GTR in Oem condition where I can truely experience the power it has without having to crank up to boost to compensate for minor boost leaks the vehicle has. Car will be a road trip machine going to do allot of trips as well as commuting.

This build was inspired by zaheers first gtr and if anyone ever has a chance to get a ride or be driven in a 100% stock gtr that runs perfectly you will appreciate the strength one has from the factory

I'd get the boost leaks fixed. Those like to steal power. A stock GTR ain't very strong compared to others now a days (Taurus SHO? rofl) but with boost leaks you could be missing a fair bit. I lost .4bar due to a 1/4 hole in my intercooler. Lost atleast 100hp I bet by the feel of it when it got fixed.

            Just a thought.

pulling it up top is pretty easy.
                      - take all the piping/intake out of the way.
                      - unbolt downpipe
                      - unbolt drivedraft and shifter
                      - unbolt passenger side front half shaft
                      - unbolt driver side front suspension assembly
                      - yank out driver side front half shaft
                      - undo harness
                      - unbolt motor mount

                      That's pretty much it.

The driver side front half shaft is pretty tricky to remove. You have to yank it as hard as you can because the spindle might be sized.

Why do you need to pull the engine out? Is the motor pooched? Anyways, good luck with that!

Some people pull out perfectly fine engines to build it up for more power when they can afford it. If they can't, then that's a good question. Best answer is, when a car is paid off, it's fair game to soup it up.

Old seals, needs water pump and t-belt, and clean it up and make sure I am getting 100% or close to it of the power I paid for
