  • A31 race car. Not GTR but all the same parts :)

I got this stuff up on drift-west as well but its always fun to whore builds out for the motivating attention. Im in Coquitlam for a week starting on the 24th then back to Lethbridge to finish this build. Should piece together fairly quickly as all the money is spent and parts are just waiting.

I didnt know to post this in the gtr projects but the GTS forums say rb20/25. So It was justified.

Im not looking for huge power. I ran out of money as I have a house and new truck and moving to Poco so nothing was done to my head other than a valve job and new seals. So its at least refreshed. Im guessing I can squeeze out 400hp area. Thats plenty to slide around and then I can just upgrade the head to get a lil more.

So here is the majority of the goods: I'll post up progress.

    -GT-SS kit
    -Sard injectors
    -Sard reg
    -Apexi PFC D-Jetro
    -RB25 trans w/OS 1-3 gear set
    -Nismo twin copper pull type.
    -braided clutch line
-2 way LSD. Unknown brand. works well enough.
    -Brembo R33 GTR all around
    -GTR brake peddle
    -Braided lines all around
-Got either my Zeals or the Cuscos zero-2's it came with.
    -Hicas delete
    -GTR rear sway
    -Subframe alum bushings
    -GTR subframe
    -R33 GTS rear diff cover
    -GTS-T axles 5 bolt.
    -Trust radiator
    -Greddy upper rad hose.
    -Hicas rack w polly bushing
    -Solid steering spacer
-R32 OEM inner and outer tie rods with 3/16" washer. drift spacer.
    -R32 P/S reservoir.

-Painless race car kit. PN#50003 12 circ.
    -Moroso batt relocate
    -Parsons roll cage
    -Recaro solid
-nardi wheel. Need to ditch and buy a suede one tho. Gloves slip on this one like a mo-fo.
    -Autometer gauges and monster tach.
    -HKS EVC
    -Greddy multi switching system.

Engine is just a basic build That I have done in the past for the most part plus some other things to help keep it all together for the long haul:
    -RB26 engine block and head
    -ARP head stud kit
    -CP's 86.5
    -Eagle Rods
    -ACL bearings main/rod
    -N1 pump
    -Tomei head gasket 1.2
    -De-bur/polish block castings
-.002 total clearance crank drive. Selling these if anyone whats one.
    -1.2mm oil feed
    -Modified oil drain castings
    --10 head to sump drain
    -Tomei Sump Baffle
    -ATI Crank Dampener
    -Using the GT-SS's
    -Using the PFC
    -Tomei in tank fuel pump.
    -Moroso accumulator 1.5q
-Greddy 13 row cooler. OEM cooler delete.
    -Nismo stat
    -heater delete
    -A/C delete

I was running a halo bar with ladder door bars but in the end I really didnt like it. the A-Pillar bars needed to be a bit tighter so I ended up cutting it out. Im building the rest when Im back from Poco and doing x door bars for max comfort.

    Tonight's work:
did a little more work on it the past bit.

Found the diff I am going to use. 2 way that i had in the rb26gtst I had back in 2007. Pulled apart to service it and changed the rear backing plate to a R33 2 bolt so that I can use a GTR rear crossmember.

Tossed the diff in the crossmember to make sure it was all good. I wanted to use R32 axles as they are thicker and stronger than the wimpy 6 bolt s13 axles. So i changed hubs from the 2 way that came with the cefiro when I bought it. So now I have a GTR crossmember with 5 bolt axles. Id like to upgrade to GTR pumpkin and axles and hubs but I need a 2 way for one and cant locate one for a good price. So for now its GTS pumpkin. To toss the gtr member in a S13 or GTS you need to cut them down about half an inch. I did that and threw some alum spacers that were kicking around in the shop.

i also installed a S13 close ratio Hicas steering rack. Its only got the two lines coming out of it so i will just build my own lines from copper and braze the high pressure line to my new ones and have a cooler up front as well. Also threw in a solid steering spacer and poly rack bushings. rack bushings are only $10 from mopac.

I got the rotation assy balanced with my nismo twin copper clutch and block decked so I am officially ready to build my engine.

pix: Forgive my photos. I know they could be better.

      engine build under way!
i just got back from vancouver. "future home" So I need to get my car running ASAP. Heading back to Coquitlam at the end of the month.

assembled rods and pistons. Need to file my rings before I can toss them in:

      squirters cleaned and installed:

      painted block:

random shot of rb valley. note ACL race series fitted:

Installed bearings and crank. Checked my clearances after tqin in:

      Lube this puppy up:

Toss in the crank bolted it up:

      Spinning like a mo fo:

Use an rb30 filter adapter, no need for oem oil cooler anymore. since I am running no heater core right now I can bung up the one fitting in the right rear of the block. Didn't forget to get a new O-Ring:

      Locktite the oil pump:

      New sprocket and shim:

only got this far for one evening. Just need to file and size my rings, toss em in and then I can get the head on along with everything else. 2 more nights and it should look like a complete engine I hope. enjoy!:
