  • TriniGT's Project R32 GT-R

Hey all, I frequent the site looking for info so decided to put up my ongoing project. Actually this project started as an R34 GT-Four but the issue of getting someone to wire my R32 engine into my R34 I opted to sell the GT Four and get an R32 GT-R. After a month or two looking around I got one with a damaged engine and much to do. I took the car over to get sprayed and began the process refurbing the R32 RB26DETT engine I got from Japan, it came with a bit of toys. Just a quick run-down of the parts to go in and future plans.

Watch this space .

So after some thinking I decided to yank the OEM gauge setup from the replacement dashboard center console setup and somehow get the defis in there. Here is the result after some shaving and tweaking,
                Old Gauge setup,

Fitted Defi setup, love the way the R32 console is entirely made for the driver, slanted properly,

Here is the way they were mounted behind using some old stereo brackets,

And with the center shifter and stereo trim fitted,

Nah I had someone else do the painting, can't take credit for it. Currently I have replaced the dashboard as it had a couple of holes from the prevous owners where gauges were installed, I dropped the hood liner and cleaned it, I have replaced the carpet with the darker GTS equivalent, I have redone some of the weathered/battered wiring for the headlights by repinning connectors from a proper GTS front half, I got replacement engine and fuse box harnesses that were untouched and ran those, picked up an R33 V-Spec clutch and brake cylinder setup and installed those. I have to once again drop the subframes and install the blasted ones and reattach the nismo arms and adjustables and setup the brakes properly but first I need to run the braided fuel lines or can I get away with running braided lines after the subframe is up?

A couple of pics from the past of work that was done,
                          Removing dashboard and redoing wiring,

Removed carpet and cleaned up a bit,

Also removed the A/C blower setup and replaced a botched setup that was done before with a replacement setup,

                          Replacing carpet,
                          GTR carpet,

You can' really see but the GT-R carpet looks like commercial carpet and the GTS carpet is much darker, it just needed cleaning.
                          GT-R,

                          GTS,

                          Ran Replacement Harnesses,

                          ABS Fitted,

                          V-Spec Brake Clutch Setups,

                          Fitted,

Also found two rotted parts in the car behind the harness on both driver and passenger side,

                            Repaired,

                            Engine Bay coming together,

                            The underneath was a nightmare,

Checked the wheels well areas and found some rust at the seams, removed the old caulk sealant and began stripping the rust and then resealing it after and using 3M undersealant to coat the entire well.

                              Caulk applied,

                              3M applied to dried areas,

In case anyone wants to know, this is the 3M product,
