  • Option for more cold air

I was changing the bov gaskets today noticed an improvement I could do the the intake system.

    1st-pull out resonator box

    2nd turn pipe around

    3rd
    more air

I'm sure if you cut off some of the pipe on the lower section you would get more air.Definately a easy mod though.

if its cheap and works then its all good....but I have allways been against the colder air the better on turbo cars. Thats why you have a intercooler, the intercooler changes the charge temp, and no matter what once the intakes suck in air and goes through the compressor covers to the intercooler the temp changes.

So a fast drive in the winter feels the same as a fast drive in the summer?Colder air is ALWAYS better for a turbo.

I always thought cold air was better for any engine because of its densety (or lack thereof i forget!) thus aiding combustion.

Also as were on the subject i had a brainwave (or it could well turn out to be a brain fart! I'll see what you lot have to say about it, Lol!) If you have to change your headlights to Dot approved ones and put on say Corsica or other ill fitting lights that leave a gap? I thought it would be good to route cold air to your filter from that area?

Gives you a bit more air and if you have MAHOOSIVE turbos it'll help keep your temp needle in the happy sector of its arc.

I was never dissing the mod, just sending it out there that it really doesnt make that much of difference. Your turbo creates alot of heat once the air from the intake reaches it and is spooled the charge heats up...then its cooled again. If anything the intercooler could thank the colder night since its whats really making the charge cooler. Its also called heat soak, its popular in smaller intercooled cars, cars with smaller intercoolers cool better at night when ambient temps are down compared to when its hot in mid day.

I still like the mod man, hope you didnt take it the wrong way.

ya it helps alot and will make far more gains on a car that is NA compared to a intercooled turboed car:hit_head: . Sure if the car isnt intercooled but is turboed then the intake inlet temp will matter the most then.
