hey just put my engine in the bay tonight, its been 9 months since it came out, do the motor mounts need to be undone in order to put the top bellhousing bolts on. the starter what is the best way to do this job. is there any other advise for any other tricky tasks.

Im pretty sure you'll have to loosen the motor mounts to get those top bolts. Id try putting the starter in from underneath.

All I did was remove the rear propel shaft from the transmisson, take the bolts out of the transmission mount while supported by a jack and lower it enough to get a hand in there. Wasn't so bad, then again, I had a car hoist when it came to getting those bellhousing bolts back in...

damn a hoist would be nice. When i got them out i think i took them from the top of the engine bay, is it possible to do from underneith?

I got them out from underneith, I assume you can get them from underneith, we just rotated the engine until I could get a stubby wratchet and a socket on that =\.

Probably easier from up to with the right tools.
