  • Ati crank damper & timing light

Hey does anyone know if the ati super damper still uses the OEM timing mark location, or do you have to make your own... I fired up my car today and we cranked the CAS all the way to the left, but according to the timing mark on the engine I'm still at 15degrees advance, shouldn't I be at 0 degrees or retarded?

I have aftermarket cams, tomei type A. I'm wondering if this affected it, other than that the car runs like ****. yay.

Timing light at 0 degrees and engine should be at 15 degrees. Or timing light at 15 degrees and your engine will be at 0 degrees. Check with manual for your GTR's correct degrees setting, 15,20,25.

      It should be 20,

My car is currently at 10 degrees I think.

I'll try popping it around tomorrow and see if that helps at all, god damn turbo shuffle is so bad it's really hard to diagnose the problem because I can't hear **** over the backfire. lol.

      CANT WAIT FOR DJETRO =[

This being said, Ryan do you have a timing light?

Only the best of the best, complete with backlit display of rpms, degrees and dwell (what ever the f*ck dwell is for). Remember when you said I should re-check the timing on my car after changing the timing belt? Best investment ever!

I have this one. I cant belive it's $200.00, I only paid $116.00 or so before tax.

one problem, my car is currently out of service. I'm going to lordco tomorrow morning to get bolts, tap, proper o2 sensor, turn signal light and what not. Hopefully this will improve my fuel mileage. Also going to change my fuel filter while I'm at it since I bought one a few months ago.

call me in the morning I guess.

Do you use the loop in the ignitor harness for the timing light ?

              Yes I did...

Should I use the positive wire off #1 coil instead?

You use the loop at the ignitor as it indicates cylinder 1, kinda hard to clamp down to one of three wires from a coil pack.

I think the ignitor loop is fine. I was just curious as I heard some people saying that the reading from the loop was off a little bit.

Dwellwell angle, a term used in automotive context, indicating the degrees of rotation of the distributor cam during which the ignition contact breaker points in the distributor are closed.
