  • Electrical Help Please?

    Hey,

I'm attempting to reduce the cluster of wires in my car and have come up with the following questions:

Under the driver side kick panel there is a black box the says "Door Lock Timer". I'm getting rid of my power locks and am wondering what does this accutally do? and is there any side affects from getting rid of it? Yes, I know that sounds like a stupid question but my wiring knowledge is limited?

Also I'm thinking of disecting the side mirrors, pulling the motors and making them manual. Has anyone done this before? will this idea work without significant parts fabrication? It's either this or I drop the cash for some craft square's.

Incase anybody is wondering....I also found out that moving the window switches from the doors to the center console requires the dash to be removed so that the wiring can be changed.

Oh and one more thing...I will need replacement door jam plugs (you know the one that the wire harness passes thru). Can I easily get these at the local nissan? or is this part specific to the Skyline.

    Thanks!

I don't know about the "door lock timer". Pull it out and see what happens. Don't waste your time with the mirrors, just replace the whole unit with something lighter..

As for the grommets, hit up NAPA or such, they usually have a selection.

Cool thanks...I Kinda figured the mirrors might be a waste of time. I'm wondering if the timer is there to lock the doors while driving??? I'm sure nothing will happen if I pull it.
