  • Waterpump Gasket?

I found a nice barley used N1 waterpump, but no gasket, i gave a call to Ztune and they said there was no gasket you just use silicone?

I am assuming this isn't the same stuff you use to seal your windows..anyone know if i can pick up a tube at canadian tire? or like a tuning shop?

permatex copper works too, the orange stuff, good for anything on the engine.

Just let what ever silicone you use set for 24 hours before you get it wet or oily.

you find them hanging in the isle with the coolant and stuff.

              it's a big undertaking.

              remove the radiator
              remove the fan
              take off the cam sensor
crack the front bolt (30mm socket)
remove the crank pully(steering wheel puller with two m8x1.25 bolts)
remove the lower timing belt cover
              remove the timing belt

you can then do what you wish with the water pump.

Reallly....was talking to some dudes on the SO.com and they said there was no need to take out the rad. Like i said i have never really looked hard at it yet i thought i was going to have to take out the rad too but i guess not.

Taking your rad out is the easiest part of the job...

It's worth taking it out for:

                  a) not punching/bending your rad accidentally

                  b) avoid swearing excessively because the rad is in the way of EVERYTHING

Permatex Grey Water Pump & Thermostat sealant. I've used that and have had zero issues, holds up well to extreme temperatures. Find it at Napa, Parts Source, Canadian Tire.

Since you're doing the water pump anyway, I think it'd be a wise idea to remove the rad and flush it out (you should see some of the crap that comes out of rads when you flush them). It'll also save you from further headache while working on the water pump.

Note for this job, you have to pull the crank pulley, lower timing cover, timing belt, idler and tensioner pulleys off as well to get to the water pump bolts & to remove it easily.

I don't understand how they are pulling the front damper off with the rad in. There just is not enough room. Make sure you don't use a 3 arm puller as well. That's a quick way to tear the rubber on the damper.

And if you haven't done a timing belt/pullies yet this is the perfect time to do all that.

like replace all the pulleys as well..might as well the thing is this car is my daily driver so i need some time off
to do it like it will be a learning experiance and i need a puller /sigh.

The guy from skylineowners told me to get a breakerbar put the actual socket on the nut holding the lower pullys on and start the car so it shocks the nut..

                              Seemed a bit barbaric
