  • HKS SSQV BOV Question

hey, im wondering if/how you stiffen the Valve spring on the ssqv blowoff-valve. Im also curious if running my car atmospheric on stock ECU would be any help in making it shuffle?

I ran a single ssqv with no problems venting to atmosphere.

If you have an older ssqv you can screw the bolt in the back of it farther in.

I have the new HKS SSQV and so far I have not been able to adjust it. Anytime I drive it goes off. Really annoying like a ricer driving by. If I can't get this adjusted to only go off at higher boost levels, it's coming out.

Let me know what you find.

hey, im thinking about making my BOV recirc. instead of atmospheric. Would it need to be plumbed into the balance pipe? or can it be in either one of the intake pipes? Im curious to see if I get rid of the rich condition every time i shift gears if it affects the turbo shuffle.

If you bought the BOV new, it should have come with a Recirc adapter. All you'd need is to run the BOV into the factory recirc piping. You'll need some hose and some work to accomplish this. The HKS is a nice BOV but the sound... really ricer. Get's annoying fast since it goes off all the time no matter how much load. When you recirc it, you'll lose the noise adapter (silver, gold or purple) to use the recirc adapter and it will be enclosed so it shall be quieter. I believe the HKS bov will sound much better and less ricer if it's plummed as recirculating.

I'm still undecided about keeping it atmospheric, recirculating or just getting an apexi bov or something. I cannot go BOVless since I'm running thrust bearing turbos and not ball bearing...

Just remove the little peace sign and it doesn't sound ricey at all. I got sick of the high pitched noise too so I pulled the insert out and it's much better.

yeah, i can make it quieter. My intake piping is all aftermarket and there now isnt no recirc setup on the car. I just wanna see how the car runs with is recirc. Vs Atmospherical. Im running ball bearing turbos so i guess i could always run no BOV.

I think i am going to take the top off the BOV and shim the spring or find a stiffer one.
