  • Gentle but strong clutch?

Hi guys, what clutch is the easiest on the gearbox/synchro's, but will still hold up to some hard launches at 500-600RWHP? I'm assuming its mostly to do with the mass of the disc(s) and whether its sprung?
This will be going on a car that won't see slicks, and will be 99.9% street driven. Also I'm looking to punish the stock tranny for as long as I can get away with, hence why I'm looking for a 'gentle' clutch. Also, clutch pedal stiffness is not a concern, nor am I bothered by clutch engagement noise or chatter.
    Thanks!

You are looking for a unicorn here bud. 500+whp is gonna be hard on the tranny and clutch no matter what you do. Launching with that kind of power on the stock box wont last long either. A "gentle" clutch wont hold that kind of power anyways. Sprung hub is a little kinder on the tranny but if you are launching with that kind of power it will make little difference. In short, get a mans clutch.

From what I understand, the stock box knackers around 550 to the wheels...since I'm getting very close to that number, anything I can do to make life easier on the tranny will obviously prolong its life. I'm definitely not chasing a unicorn here because I'm not looking for a miracle clutch. I was simply looking to know which type of the 'heavy duty' clutch would be 'easiest' on gear.

Looks like aftermarket gears for me then! lol
      Man clutch recommendations?

I ran a Nismo Coppermix twin. Didn't hurt anything. Felt very close to a stock clutch as well..

what your going to want to look for is a spring loaded clutch. Its softer on the pedal but still has the regular force of a heavy feeling clutch. Unfotunitly you cant have it your way. No matter what if your making 500awhp the tranny is going to feel it, there is no way around it.

If your worried about messing up the syncros and so on i think hks makes a rebuild kit for reinforced gears and so on, But then again so does blitz and greddy and who ever else.
