  • Z32 MAF: swap sensors with stock ones?

    Hey,
I have a set of stock MAFs that I just took off the rb26. I have a set of Z32 MAFs that I'm looking to put on the car. I have the pigtails, which I'll set up. I also have a PowerFC ECU ready to install for tuning.

My question is: Can I remove the sensors from the stock MAFs and solder them into the Z32 MAFs? This would make my life easier, because that will allow me to install the new MAFs without making any changes to the Mine's ECU I currently have installed.

i would think it would still need a retune as the only reason the z32 mafs read higher is the fact that more air bypasses the sensor which allows it to flow more air at the same voltage level, basically the only thing that will change is the fact that you wont have to re-wire your engine harness but it wont read airflow right

I would just install the z32 mafs and pop the PFC in. Then you can go into the settings and change your airflow sensors to z32.

I trust the basemap on the pfc more then the mines tune.
Either way what you want to do wont work so i suggest you go ahead as do as i just typed above.

Thanks for the info. I figured if I had soldered the stock sensor it would give me the same voltage readout range (The air flow per voltage reading would be the same as before), so the ECU wouldn't be confused.

Now it just seems like work for nothing. But the PowerFC I have was already custom tuned by Al Massey (sp?) for someone else's car; so I don't have the original mapping anymore.

Just out of curiosity, why do you want to put stock MAF sensors into the Z32 MAF body?
