  • Does this timing belt look right?

I figured i'd check the timing belt on my car and it seems really really loose, as if loose enough to jump the timing. Also does anyone know if i have to remove the front bumper and intercool to get the crank pulley off?

i'm no expert but i had my cover off yesterday and mine was much tighter.

    Taking off bumper
-1 screw in each wheel well.
    -2-3 plugs under front grille
-1 screw each side of font side vents
-2-4 screws around license plate area
-3 screws each side where front lip and fender lining attach
-3 screws where front lip and front diffuser thing attach

most of them i dont even replace becase i just whip off the bumper any time i'm doing engine bay work. so i may be off a little. shouldn't take you more then 5 minutes once you've done it a couple times.

    taking off intercooler
3 bolts and the hoses on either size. the hoses will be a bitch to get off and worse to get back on.

you know, i just re-read your post and i thought you were asking how to take off the bumper and intercooler. haha i'm an idoit sometimes. either way i'm pretty sure you'll have to in order to get the puller on the pully. Haven't had to do it though.

that's WAY too loose...you shouldn't be able to do that....it should be more firm...maybe your tensioner is f'd?

Yeah, I'd say a new timing belt is needed. Did it have that oil on it already or is that just from you touching it?

There's some white lines that line up with some white lines on the backing plate. Very scientific, I know, but it's fairly fool proof.

To do the timing belt you'll need to drain coolant and pull the rad, it's not such a hard thing to do. I'd install a new water pump while you're in there, it's cheap insurance.

Mike no worries about alignment marks. I know how it goes

It's very easy I'll show you.

compression test it, you may have even bent valves.
