  • 1500$ to spend. Building a quick GTR.

Okay guys, I'm on a tight budget and I want my GTR to be quick ( more acceleration than high-end HP power). I like the kick of my GTR. So, I prefer quick acceleration and great torque number.

    Here's what I did/bought this winter:

    Suspension :
    Tein HA coilover
    AMS Subframe bushing
    AMS Ruca
    AMS Fuca
    Ams Tension rod

    Engine:
    Removed the boost restrictor ( 11psi to 13psi) + 2 psi
6 point grounding kit ( really saw a difference, more responsive)
Divided twin turbo pipe ( quicker turbo spool)
R34 dump pipe ( quicker turbo spool)
Denso Supra 280lph fuel pump ( for future mods)
Flushing the 9 fluids in the engine
    ECU tuned by Almasi

    What to do next !?

    Braking ?
    AMS 2-piece rotor and Hawk HP+ ( Around 700-800$)

    Koyo rad ? 400$
    Destwerk injector 600cc 550$ + Fuel rail 350$
    Cams 300 used
Yellow coil pack ( seems to fit my description with an added 10hp+ ) 400$
    Spark plug

quick and cheap doesn't get you much for long however you don't need brakes for quick.

You don't need a fuel rail for more power.

Rad won't help go faster but will keep you cooler.

I'd say get the rad, Cams and injectors and go fast.

Serious cars cost serious money so don't push for too much power on small budget

The rad and injectors will not make your car have faster acceleration.
I'd go with cams and a lightened flywheel if you want better response.

Stock doesn't suck. I still beat 90% of the cars in Qc lol

By the way, some people prefer to buy 8000$ of parts and do it one shot. Me, I prefer to go one by one. I can't see how this can be wrong. At the end, it will be the samething.

**What about the yellow spitfire coilpacks?

I don't think new coilpacks will give you better response. If you stock ones are working OK there is no reason to change them. Huge HP GT-Rs in Japan run factory coils with no issues.

no offence, but if you want to go fast for cheap, buy a fox body mustang. If i were you though, i'd start saving some coin for new turbos and a standalone engine management system.

Damn it guys!!! You all think it need 30 000 to build a GTR? I don't want to get 800hp, I go to the drag for the feeling , I don't give a f*ck about my times. If I go to the track, my goal won't be to beat frankiman's best tim, I just want the adrenaline rush it can give me. Somes strip their interior to be lighter.. Me, I added at least 150lbs of sound system. Some guys will go with slick tires to save 0.2second. See, I'm not that kind of person.

So, Why would I want an expensive standalone system when my tuner can tune my ecu for 3x times cheaper.

I understand the oil pump can be a problem, that why I asked my tuner to put a rev limiter at 7.3k rpm.

Cheez, seriously, give me a break about those stupid answer.

I was thinking about a set of turbos too. But If I do, I will have to buy electric boost controller, injector+fuel rail. What else?

to answer your question (not everyone has 30 000 to drop on their GTR all at once)

I'd spend the money on cooling/support mods and maintenance items

i.e oil cooler and filter relocate
                        - oil catch can
                        - upgrade rad
                        - fuel pump
                        - injectors
                        - ECU upgrade
                        etc etc.
turbos you won't be able to harness all their potential without all the supporting mods first, so you may as well do those

                            hey man,

id also spend the money on supporting mods first if were you...

unfortunatley $1500 won't get you very much... unless you hold off untill you get a great deal

heres some things i would consider if i were you:

                            - Knowledge is power... and in our case with the GTR it could mean the difference between a heads up of an oil problem before its too late...a full set of good name gauges.. oil pressure, boost, water temp, oil temp
                            - a good electric boost controller will take you a long way in gaining response and power.. get it set up to run 1 bar (assuming you have stock turbos)... that feels REALLY quick...
                            - a new fuel pump is always money well spent

how about a full service? new spark plugs, fuel filter, oil change and oil filter, new tires, new brake pads and rotors...

that maintence stuff alone will help response and eat up a good chunk of your $1500...lol

Done. STRI DSD lines. I have these 4 gauges.

I'm considering it but taking the boost restrictor will give me 13psi and I don't need more.
                              - a new fuel pump is always money well spent
                              I already bought a Denso 280lph.

how about a full service? new spark plugs, fuel filter, oil change and oil filter, new tires, new brake pads and rotors...
I bought 300$ of fluid at KNS motorsport. Spark plug were done last year at Autoworx. Fuel filter is new since I have a new Denso pump. HP+ on his way. I'm considering buying the AMS brake kit. F*ck the tires, I will change them when they are done.
