  • 95 R33 GTR - odd shifting problems

having some unusual behaviour in vehicle.

About 3 out of 10 times up-shifting into 4th gear results in some grinding, same thing with down-shifting into second.

Absolutley no problems with the other gears up or down...

    Clutch is bled...

    ..any ideas???

    thx..

I feel a tranny fluid debate soon MT90 vs Shockproof. I would flush the tranny first. If that doesn't work you'll have to start looking for an other r33 rb26 (clutch is different then r32 Pull vs Push). I honestly don't know how it would cost to rebuild the tranny...
              Good luck!

P.S. Write whatever you do with results! Always good to know

...so hypothetically speaking let's say that yes I did a tranny fluid change...

...and on the magnetic drain plug there was the expected bits of metal...
but also there were 2 strange looking clip like thingies...

I don't think they are part of any gearing or anything....

....any ideas what they are ???

...should I be afraid ? very afraid ???

..and no the nickel didn't come of the tranny...

usually... transmissions do not come with spare parts inside.. so id be very afraid.

probably has something to do with the intermittent grind you're having

These clips braking and falling off seems common. What are they anyways? I quickly looked at the thread and they didn't say.

I don't know what it is but don't be worried, it won't mess up the engine. Also you can get gtr trannies with the transfer case for 250-400$ at a JDM shop. MT-90 and Redline Heavy Shock Proof cured my tranny grind.

Did some more fine detective work and it seems other vehicles have the same problem
