  • Suggestions for install on oil cooler

Looking for suggestions on things to do when installing an oil cooler/relocator. Such as maybe other things i should remove or maybe certain places that are really good to place the cooler or relocator, any advice is usefull.

Take out your A/C and mount it right there, try and line it up with the front vent

Relocater I put to the left of the engine in some free space I had, you can put this wherever it fits.

When installing your cooler make sure you put the connections facing down so when you change your oil, the cooler drains aswell

Free space? I've been looking for some of that. Very little under the hood of a GTR

Some oil coolers are front mount which go infront of the AC condenser without needing to remove AC. Other kits are fender mounts which also don't require AC removal.

It's just the generic cooler/relocator from autobahn88 and came with no instructions so im trying to figure out where to put it and if there is anything else i should remove in the process.

If you mount your oil cooler with the fittings at the bottom , you will trap air in the core and the oil wont cool properly.

A small amount of oil left in the cooler after an oil change is a small compromise.

Some of the best oil coolers on the market are never drained when doing oil changes. the oil stays in the cooler and lines. You have a drain plug on your cooler or something?

If you change oil often enough, it doesn't matter if oil is left in lines, oilcooler core. Oilcooler actually lengthens the lifespan of oil x 2. For example if oil last's 5000km without oilcooler, it will last 10,000km with oilcooler. But you still change it at 5000km.

On racecars they mount oilcooler core so fittings are on the side when mounted infront of radiator or in guard. Doesn't matter if it's N1 (infront of radiator) or Group-A racecar (in the guard).

If the fittings are on the side like Skym said, you wont have air trapping problems and you should be able to drain it by jacking the car up on one side.

what I meant to say, only I worded mine really shitty. have them at the bottom, not necessarily facing down. But just in a fashion in which you can drain it
