  • hesitation and intermittent running problems

So recently I have been having some running and hesitation problems my car was running fine for abour 3000kms since I installed nistune some injectors and such I did have a low idle at startup but it creeped up to 950ish after about 30 secs.

My car just started to hesitate and buck around 4500rpm and on a few occasions (was on a road trip when it started) would stall only thing that kept it running it seemed was the momentum of the car on the highway would slowly lose speed then would randomly start to work fine again. It did stall on me completely once in the city aswell.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

Ohh yes almost forgot the exhaust temperature light did come on at one point when the car was not running right.

mine does the same thing. Pretty sure mine is being caused by mafs getting dirty because i dont have a catch can.

Could a clogged cat cause it? I need to replace a gasket just before the cat anyways how could i tell if it is clogged just stick my hand in it or what? I am replacing spark plugs and cleaning mafs aswell.

        Thanks

A clogged cat will feel like the car has no power and doesn't want to go anywhere.

Does it missfire when your boosting? or just cruising?

Generally 4500+ missfires is spark blowing out because of high boost. Check your plugs, gap them to 0.8mm.

While your at it clean your MAF too like stated above.

yeah, misfires above 4500 do sound like plugs, but the whole losing power thing sounds way too much like my issue. basically, ill be cruising, lose all power, car will start to slow down, and if i keep pressing the gas, eventually it'll start having some power but will misfire like crazy and blow black smoke.

Then, after a little while, everythings fine again, lol. messed up

could be the ignitors starting to go, it sounds like a timing issue to me, i would definatley check into the timing. maybe see if you have a friend that would swap CAS and ignitor chip with you?

if you have bigger injectors you should try going 1 heat range hotter plugs, if you dont track your car everyday the plugs can get fouled after awhile and start to cause missfires.

Okay so I have replaced spark plugs and cleaned mafs runs fine now as far as I can tell until I hit boost then it jerks and the revs bounce around (not quite the same as a rev limiter will jump a larger amount and at a slower pace)

I will change the exhaust gasket pretty quick as soon as she cools down but the car feels the same off boost as she always has. I thought I heard some air escaping when boost pressure was trying to go up is it possible a boost leak is causing this? I can't see my boost pressure until it is dark as my gauge reflects onto my windshield should I pull off my bumper and check my BOVs or something?

                Thanks again

how hard are you boosting it when it jerks? maybe turbo shuffle?

About half throttle seems she will only rev past 4500 if there is no load. I will go for a drive tonight when I can see my boost gauge.

Also if somebody has a working igniter pack in calgary I could use to test mine that would be great
