  • Need to know ASAP: Driving without front driveshaft

Hey guys, I had a weird noise coming from the front of my car today. I just put it on the hoist and the front U-joint on the front driveshaft (prop shaft) is completely wasted. It's actually done some damage to the shaft itself so it looks like I'll need a new one. I need to know if I can take the whole shaft out and still drive the car? I figured I could pull the 4wd fuse(s) and drive it this way? I just need to know quickly if I can do this or if it will hurt my car. I feel like I've heard of people pulling them out before to do dyno runs etc... I just don't want it to do something scary like leak fluid/ruin from the t-case or something...

    thanks- Don

It's fine to do as long as you disable your Atessa first, well it will fault anyways. The issue is that you'd gunk up the transfer case opening... Why don't you order a shaft now? Just park the car till you have the parts and use the DD.

Thanks, I figured as much. I'm not driving the car, I just needed to get it about 10 miles home from my work to my garage. But thanks for the answer!
