  • Alternator Removal BNR32 RB26DETT

    Hey guys,

my alternator just cacked, 13.3 volts charging off idle.

Just wondering if you guys had any hints or tips to make the removal easier?

I know i have my HKS hardpiping in the way, any nuts bolts or hidden fasteners i should be wary about?

also does anyone know if i could get another alternator from NAPA or Auto Value or do i need to order one from japan?

    thanks,
    Brando

It's as easy as most cars but tougher than some. If you can't figure it out looking at it, you'd best take it to a mechanic. It's really not much work. Maybe an hour to replace? Lots of part outs on here.

where are you taking the voltage reading from? 13.3V isn't terrible (its not good though). If your measuring 13.3V at the battery then your alternator is probably fine. Measure the voltage directly on the alternator.

yeah its at the battery, but you can also see my alt belt skip across my alt pulley as it makes a horrible screeching noise every startup, so im pretty sure something is ******.

also 13.3v is at like 5k rpm so its only worse from there to a minimum of 13v @ idle

When I pulled mine I just removed the battery and Intake pipe. I'd put a piece of cardboard infront of your rad when you are doing it. It's pretty easy for it to fall forward and bend some fins.
