  • Small hose that connects the fuel pressure regulator to the block?

    Hey guys,

I opened up the hood and noticed that a small 3-ish inch hose coming off the fuel regulator was disconnected from the block. Both ends seemed to be press-fitted only, no clamps.

What's that hose for? Evap gasses? It is bad if it was probably venting to atmosphere for a while before I noticed?

    Thanks

Hey it's vacuum to raise fuel pressure

Damn, that's what I tought, was afraid it was vacuumed...*sigh* I just hope It didn't get detonation. It's been like this for a while I think (before I bought it), because the block's spout is oxidized.

The injectors are leaking and now with poor pressure = bad mix.

      Thanks man...

Hey bro it will just run a little lean but you should be fine it works off a 1-1 raise so it should be around 43-45 psi fuel pressure and every pound of boost is 1 pound of fuel so should be ok because it is actually on the exit side of the rail so it wont make a huge difference and if you need fuel seals they are easily available at an injection store they are denso style so get the upper lower seal and the top ring its like $12 from them and its the same seals as a generation 2 rx7 if they need a car to pull seals from.. 2 replace just go down to canadan tire buy stp engine additive... then remove 2 bolts on fuel rail watch out for fuel spray.. then remove all clips on injectors at top look like small wire.. then pull injectors from rail and block straight out.. then remove old rings.. put stp on new ones and replace as you remove(dont forget top spacer)..when all six are done replace in block and slowly is key line them back up to fuel rail then lightly wiggle fuel rail left and right till the bolts are flush.. hand tighten lightly dont over tighten good luck

Thanks man. Did you mean the STP "injector treatment"? As for fuel spray, wouldn't killing the fuel pump (pull the fuse) and cranking the engine to burn fuel in the lines take care of that problem?

I just checked to see if the hose had popped off again, and it did, probably when I was cruising yesterday. I'll clip it in.

As for the seals, I ordered through Nissan the bottom seal, upper o-ring and rail o-ring for each cylinder, off the '89 KA24E.

Hey ordering those is a pain in the a&& and they are non-returnable and very expensive for the same thing.. they sent me the wrong ones twice.. and as for stp it is an oil treatment and extremely slippery got it from an injector builder.. you can empty the system that way and it does save the gas smell just most of the time i did it i was on the side of the high way.. dont forget the top spacer usually most of the problem... as for the vacume line just grab a plastic zip tie and put it on the line once connected works the best just get it nice and tight.. any more questions dont be afraid to ask

Confirmed; just did the job and here's an OEM injector kit that you can call your local Nissan with:

                16618-78A00
                16635-78A00
                16636-V5000

Order X6 and you have the complete ring kit, tip to rail.

Well after all that trouble, it still leaks (albeit, less). I think injectors 2 to 6 are cracked. Installation was perfect since #1 is still dry as a bone, and it looks like new, at least more recent than the other 5 anyway.

                    Dangerous advice alert.
Failing to increase fuel pressure with boost is a recipe for dangerously lean conditions unless the car was custom tuned to open the injectors for a longer period to accommodate the FPR screw up.
Yes, the FPR is on the exit side of the fuel rail. That's so the fuel pump has something to pump against to generate the pressure required to flow an appropriate amount of fuel through the injectors.
Fix the FPR manifold pressure line and don't let anyone T into it as failure there is bad.

derbeck, it's good to be helpful, but only when you know what you're talking about. (in the nicest sense.)

Wasn't Derbeck going on the same "lean is bad" tangent though? I know I could of FUBARed the engine, but I didn't have det, and only ran it sparingly in the high RPMs before I noticed the hose was dislodged.

I'm just grateful I'm running on stock boost and that I didn't do any damage (not that I know of anyway )
