  • R33 gtr issues

Ok so my car used to stall while driving now it doesnt start at all.
i put a brand new tomei fuel pump in and it doesnt sound like its priming when turning the car on.
auto dream checked the codes and the car but said nothing is wrong with it, and the fuel pump relay they sold me doesnt match up with any of the relays i have found in the car..any ideas?

    Start with the basics.

    Are you getting fuel?
    Are you getting spark?

This issue could be a million things, you need to isolate if it's spark or fuel before anyone can give you any reasonable suggestion.

Im not getting fuel disconnected all the lines to the pump no fuel was in them.
I pulled the fuel pump out this weekend*again* and installed a walbro 255 which i made sure worked by hooking it up to the battery for a second, it primed just fine.
So installed it hooked everything back up and turned the key no priming of the pump.

Check your fuse and I'd check that fuel pump voltage regulator box thingy (I forgot what it's called) in the trunk.

Heh, I'm just not a fan of the impala like body style :S I'm do like all GTRs but the R33 the least cause it's too tame/weak looking with it's fatty curves. That and the guys I've seen with them in town are real ricer/douche bags n rolling with Rotas (look like civic guys lol)

check the Relay as well, if it isnt working right it will not allow power to go to the pump when needed,

I beleive that the R33 looks pretty good as tame and weak, since it is the total opposite

Anyone got the answer to why? I really need the help.

Ok all; I’ve tried everything on the internet to get the fuel pump to run using the factory wiring. Originally, the car sat for about eight months with the engine out and the night the mechanic was on a test drive the pump stopped getting power. That’s the first problem. We pulled the car back to his shop and found that the pump is fine, puts out good pressure. I’ve tried the earth suggestion and nothing, I’ve even tried going straight to the battery. I’ve checked the relay and it’s good. So why all of a sudden the pump stops getting power?
On the night of the test drive the mechanic wired the pump in straight (to green and red wire; see attached picture). This morning as I was taking the car to his shop for the first 500 kilometer oil change the car started sputtering and we coasted into a parking lot. The pump had stopped getting power again and the lights on the cluster came on. I got my multimeter out and it showed no power coming from the wire he had installed. Thinking that his installation had possibly popped a fuse I spent what seemed like forever trying to find out what this wire is for. I have loaned my service manual out to someone (thinking I wouldn’t need it) so I was just really chasing wires but still do not know what this junction goes too but can only assume. Soooooo, the second problem; I ultimately removed his splice and put a gator clip on his wire so the fuel pump could be hooked straight up to the battery instead of spliced in. I reached through the window and turned the key; the car fired right up but…. Now the ABS and 4WD lights did not go off after start up, the front torque gauge shows no power going to the wheels ( I didn’t try that hard to see movement on the gauge since the engine is new but it should still show movement in the 2500-3500 range like it did before). Since I don’t have my manual I’m guessing where he had hooked up the wire is for either of these systems if not both??? While we were in the parking lot I tried resetting the CPU to see if the fault would clear, it stayed and all the fuses are good. Any ideas?
The mechanic did show some remorse about us getting stranded for a while; I had my wife and two young children with me but I told him no worries these things happen. (Today was supposed to be a family outing and yes including the stop by the GTR shop) and before anyone ask (only because a hand full of people have already done it) no I don’t blame the mechanic for the fuel pump issue. He couldn’t be more helpful. It just so happens that he was driving when it happened and after searching the internet this seems to be a common ailment with the GTR. If anyone has any other ideas (besides a rewire) please let me know. I’ll be starting again on it in the morning trying to troubleshoot the new issues. If I find something I’ll let you all know.
                    Thanks ,
                    JP
