so i did this to my car today, figured I'd do a write up for anyone else who wants to do this! great CHEAP upgrade for your interior lighting, to custom color your gauge cluster to match your aftermarket gauges, paint, etc etc etc...
What you need:
Philips head screwdriver
5x 194 360* LED's of your color choice (available on eBay for CHEAP!)
2x 74 360* LED's of your color choice (also available on eBay)
that's it!!
*tip, removing steering wheel makes getting the bezel out easy.*
*note* i did mine in "hyper white" which comes out blueish, i used the "blue" LEDs prior on my S14, and they were more purple, just a heads up.
here we go!
Remove 4 screws on gauge bezel, and 4 screws under dash trim.
pull the lower panel out of the way, and remove the lower 4 screws on the gauge bezel.
lower steering column, and VERY carefully, pull the gauge bezel out, halfway out, unplug all pig tails from gauge bezel.
then remove the 4 screws holding the gauge cluster in place.
slowly pull gauge cluster out, unplug pig tails... then, then replace the circled lights with the LED's... might need to test with the head light switch to make sure they're all working, as the LED's are a +/-, and wont work if polarities are reversed. the 194 LEDs go in the large plugs, and the 74's go in the smaller ones.
reverse these steps for installation...
