  • What's with the HKS T.Timer and Hicas???

    Hi gurus!
I've heard of others having the same situation like mine.

My GT-R32 has been having this flickering Hicas light for quite sometime already. What happens is that it will light up (sometimes w/ matching knocking sound at the Hicas pump area) at high revs and during high electrical load. Checked all the connections, alternator, battery, you name it. Still can't locate the culprit. But I sort of suspect my HKS T.Timer has to do something about it. So last night I disconnect my HKS T.T, and test drive it today and... voila! No more Hicas flickering.

Now for you guys who has this similar problem, how do you deal w/ it? Is it the e-brake or earth connection? I know the BNR32's Hicas system is super sensitive on voltage... What could it be. Hope you can help me guys. Thanks in advance!

my hicas light sometimes come one for a sec and go off once key has been removed and i feel the solenoid buzzing....it used to do it a lot when i grounded the hks t timer type0 by the steering column.....but now it stopped when i grounded the t timer to the gas pedal area and is far away from the steering column but now its doing it again...i think hicas dont like turbo timers...

i mite just ground the t timer directly to batt and see if it does it till...really weird...

Same thing!! Also using a Type 0 T.T. I have checked the ground, well it's in the side of this thick metal bar that hold the steering column. By the way this timer has a HKS harness so no splice on the oem ignition. I've heard that the when the Hicas lights up it means the Hicas computer is doing a reset since it has sensed a drop on voltage of some sort.

try topping off the power steering fluid.

Already checked that. It's just when the turbo t.t when plugged this problem arises.

When ever I put the key on IGN the hicas flickers really quickly. Also my e brake light is always on. I made sure the the e brake is fully down.

I also get a solid hicas light when ever im on the highway for 10 mins going over 100km/h. Not sure if this is caused by the HKS T.T tho.

my alignment is off a bit. But it doesn't pull left or right.

Try unplugging the harness of the T.T and try again.

Hmmm... I'm also thinking about that. Update us what happens mate. Don't know what I'm going to do now w/ this HKS T.T and harness if ever. Deym. By the way I also noticed that those having this problem are mostly BNR32s, not other Nissan cars w/ Hicas of its same time.

once i ground it directly to batt ill let u know....i also have the proper harness....if it doesnt fix it then it can be just the drop in voltage..

wow ur all the way from manila? ther a lot of skylines there? i havent seen manila in like 20 yrs

The funny thing is that thru some googling I noticed that there are numerous questions similar to this but none seems to find the cure for it. The thread just ends w/ no answer.. well others just decided to put the Hicas away for the solution.

Yeah I am. Nope there a few GT-Rs here, but the GT-S are more but rare as well. Most starter JDM enthusiasts car here are just tuned econoboxes. But those who are a bit "fortunate" has real performance cars and sportscars like Silvia, evo, Z, sTi, GT-Rs. Besides local model line up here ain't complete so sometimes having these models requires buying from a grey market w/c is more expensive. So you've been here already? Oh another thing is that RHD cars are not allowed here so carss from Japan must undergo conversion w/c sucks.
