  • Walbro pump install in gtr

Hey, I'm pretty sure my oem pump is f'd so I got a walbro pump to put in the skyline. I do not have the oem pump out yet, couldn't tell how to take it out, got that figured out now. Just wondering what needs to be done to install the walbro? I noticed some sort of regulator in the tank, does this stay hooked up? Basically will I just leave everything the same and just put in the new pump?
    Thanks

Thanks, I looked at that the other day, I guess the part i wasnt sure about was that check valve in line with the pump. I will leave it in, Will the Walbro fit right in place? or will i need to mod a little to make it stay?

How do you bypass the Variable voltage circuit to the fuel pump? I was thinking of just using the stock wiring to trigger seperate power wires to the fuel pump; is there a easier way to get full voltage all the time? grounding out something?

I have had bad luck with walbro pumps on another project , first one failed completely and the second one used to momentarily glitch causing sudden lean spikes , I replaced them with a supra pump and all was good.

For a GTR i'd probably use a nismo pump. Just my opinion

Yeah I have hurd the supra pumps are good, with the supra pump you still are required to wire it for full voltage. A friend was saying there is a wire you cut and ground and it will be supplied with full 12-14.4 volt. This is what im looking for..

Cut the big brown wire in the wire harness in trunk and run straight to the strut tower or put self tapper in trunk floor for ground

Sounds like you had some knock-offs, I've had one in my Caprice for over 4 years now and have never had a problem.

With a Walboro and "hotwiring" you will have more than enough pump for whatever the stock turbos could ever make for HP. Run a 12 gauge wire right from the battery with a 30amp fuse at the battery to a relay as near to the tank access as possible. Use the factory pump wiring to trigger the relay. Run a good ground as well.

This way you will have at least 14.5volts at the pump at all times that the engine is running.
