  • HKS Hi-power / Kakimoto / Greddy Trust exhaust hybrid question

Hey everyone, when I bought my R32 GTR it had a Greddy Trust downpipe and full Kakimoto 3.5" exhaust. When I took out the resonator the Kakimoto cannon couldnt take it and it sounded like ass. My dream sound is with the HKS Hi-power exhaust so my question:
If I buy JUST the Hi-power cannon and weld it to the pipe where i'd cut off the Kakimoto cannon would it sound like this vid? Its technically going to be a Greddy Trust downpipe through Kakimoto SS piping to the HKS hi-power cannon lol :P Thoughts? Im obsessed with this sound. Id rather for buy the complete HSK system $1800 when I just need the cannon. Thx in advance guys!!

It probably sounds aggressive like that cause the motor has some bigger cams..The muffler won't change the sound much.

here check out this vid: http://www.vimeo.com/4005272

Thats my system, for that video I had a trust MX equal length downpipe, de-cat, 3.5 all the way, with one resonator and the HKS Hi-Power Silent Muffler...

LOVE the HKS exhaust system... its quiet below 3000 rpm, and turns into a full on banshee at 7000

I would say go for it, exhaust systems are no where near as complicated as people seem to think they are, honestly FFS, its just a tube...lol if you run a straight 3.5" pipe with out resonator to an HKS Hi-Power cannon, I think it would sound quite loud.. my system is the Silent, AND it stil has a resonator... so no res, and none silent version you'll be SUPER loud, and depending on your local police, you may end up hating yourself more than your neighbors would hate you lol

Yes I don't wan loud, insane quieter then what I have now. So I have a 90mm (3.5"?) pipe going to the muffler, I was told the HKS hi-series didn't come in 3.5" but thrats what you have?

            HKS Hi-Power are 95mm = 3.74in.

When you get the full cat-back they are bolt on directly to the stock cat (2.5"?) but the piping is 95mm.

segue: What's the cat flange size for a kakimoto hyper fullmax (3.5")? I'm looking to de-cat.

Yes but I have a 3.5" going into my muffler and thats where i'd cut the pipe3 and put the silent hi-power, so you can get a silent hi-power with 3.75" dia but not 3.5"?

Because I have 3.5" piping going to my muffler I can just adapt it up to 3.75" dia for the cannon, i have no problem going bigger, i just didnt want to go smaller to cause a restriction. So the silent HKS hi-power it is Now to find one...

I think he was saying that the HKS Hi-power is 3.75`` where the Silent version is 3.5? I dunno... anyways mine is 3.5" and it's the silent version...

If I were you, I'd just measure the pipe before the muffler, and then get the measurements on the piece you want to order before ordering it.

Yes thats what I did, thats how I know i have a 90mm pipe (3.5"). The only thing is te ONLY way to get an HKS cannon at 3.5" is if you buy the WHOLE $1800 kit, and I only need the Cannon because I have full SS Kakimoto piping and Greddy Trust downpipes... Anyone selling JUST the HKS Silent Hi-Power Cannon or know where I can buy one? MUCH thanks if anyone can help me out here.

                        Regards, Elliot
