  • Fuel Line Replacement Help

    Hey Guys,
So my car is parked for the winter in my garage. Last week I got a set of yellow jacket coils and installed them. I started the car, it started fine but died after about 30 seconds. I went inside to see if I could start it again but I couldn't. I saw that the fuel indicator was on. I thought that was odd because I had more then a half tank in there before I parked it. So I think there is a fuel leak. The gas was summer gas so there was no additives and I didn't run any fuel line antifreeze before parking it (DOH!!). I am praying to god its the just the lines and not the tank. What I need to know is is there a diagram somewhere Showing where the fuel lines run? I looking through the repair manual, did some googling and tried searching here too but came up short. Can anyone help? What size is the line? Any other info is appriciated.
    Thanks

lines go from fuel take>fuel filter>rail>fuel regulator> return line to tank.

If your trying to see if your getting fuel I would first listen to see if the pump is priming the system when the ign is turned on. Get buddy to listen. or pull off the return line and then see if your getting any fuel out on the prime.

Im not sure what size the lines are. 3/8? or smaller. Someone will fill us on that soon enough Id imagine

All fuel related stuff is found at EN-25 (Fuel System Inspection) and EN-255 to EN-259 (Fuel Tank/Pump Removal). I dont think there's an actual diagram of lines.

If you lost all your fuel, that's a pretty massive leak, and should be fairly easy to spot. I would think you would have noticed it before storing it? I dont know I just think it's odd...maybe someone syphoned your gas tank lol. I mean it would smell pretty bad if it's leaking that much.

Also, for future reference, you always want to store a car with a full tank of gas, or else you might get water accumulation in your fuel.

The pump is definitely priming. I checked that as well. I first though the fuel was frozen and that's why it wasnt firing but now the temps are above zero for a few days but still the same thing.

Thanks for that. I will check those out. There wasn't a leak before storing it that I am 100% positive of. The car is stored at my parents house in their garage in a different town. I dont have access to it everyday so I didn't spot it. I only went to see it after a few months. I will do a full inspection soon.

Sounds like you had some possible skunky gas in the lines. Either way, good chance you simply fouled your plugs. Pull them out and check em out. They're probably "oily" looking. A cleanup with clear that up. Probably all that's wrong. Ask for help if you don't know where the plugs are.

Some older pumps drain back down (to tank) after a while so your line pressure empties. Either way, even if you had a leak, it should still start and run fine. I was spewing fuel from 4 injectors and a broken return line 3 years ago and it still ran (fire hazard though)... Good luck
