  • Z tune custom head oil drain. Anyone have pictures or info as to fitting? pics

Hey guys, Had ztune do their custom head oil drain to my engine but can't seem to fit it just right on my engine. Appears that the engine mount is in the way. Can't fit the 2 hoses under it/between the front diff and mount and it's too short to go under the oil block adapter and over the mount (which isn't due to the block!). Can't go around the block because the relocation hoses/filter is in the way and can't go over the oil block because there's going to be lots of plenum hoses and that idle control box thing in the way. I know that Z tune fitted these on multiple cars but can't find what they did with the hoses. We're talking the 2 large robber hoses going over the diff in the pictures...

I'm thinking of buying longer hoses and going under the oil block adapter and going over the mount... any ideas anyone?

Sorry about crappy pictures, wife says I can only use my goproHD which is ugly for technical stuff lol.

    Thanks for the help!

    Edit:
Found this picture in a old build thread but looking at my setup, those hoses are pinched pretty good in the spot..

Oh ya. On a similar note, pulled the dip stick out and the whole tube popped out. It's not secured in any ways. How do these things stay in place? I know I ain't using gasket maker

Hmm. if the lines are in the way and not long enough, i suppose your just going to have to make em longer or replace. Not too hard I guess.

As for the dip stick. I have a punch that has a slight taper on it. They fit loose after the blocks been dipped and paint's removed. So I toss the punch in it and ream it just a tad and then locktight it in. I use a wrench that fits over the tube and over the top of the end at the block end and tap it in the rest of the way flush, with a hammer. Hope that may help a lil

You got right longer hoses will be needed and the easiest and cleanest way is also as you mentioned - under the adapter and over the mount.

While you are there why don't you delete that oem oil cooler ?

Cause I don't know how and don't mind the benefit of a functional cooler when I'm stuck in traffic or making out in my car with it running lol. How would I remove it, not that it's in the way like I said.

I'd be a little worried about slight over heating if I'm not moving and the car is running. I know it won't be really bad cause I have 2 fans but I'm sure there's more benefits to keeping than tossing. What about sensors then? If I chuck the OEM block, I lose 2 sensor bungs which means I either get 1 bung for my after market gauge and then have no other for the OEM sensor which means an ugly dead gauge in my cluster?

What's the part number of the chase nipple?

naw man. Its a factory coolant/oil cooler. Its useless when you have an aftermarket cooler. Average oil temp on a 26 is roughly 90deg. Coolant is around 70-80deg. If anything, keeping that cooler heats up the coolant making the engine run hotter thus making oil temps rise? Thats what I figured anyways. I've pulled it off a couple builds now and I haven't noticed any kind of overheating issues. If anything the temp was where it should be or lower. If that cooler really did work wonders, then go grab an automatic rad and run the oil through the trans cooler. I doubt that would help tho.

I use this item tho. I never had that threaded piece kicking around.

Where can I pick up this item? Is it good quality? (As in a good machine seal that won't cause issues or crack like crap cast) Bolts up like OEM block so gasket will work?
