I've decided to replace my -5 setup with a BW EFR 7670. I've already got a top mount single manifold with WG but the EFR can come with an internal WG and recirc BOV. The EFR that comes without an internal WG only has a 1.05 a/r, while the ones with an internal WG have .83 or .92 a/r. So, I have a couple of questions - any comments on the different a/r's vs spool rates with the EFR, any comments internal vs external WG, and does anyone know if any dynos of the 7670 on the rb26?
Thanks

So I told him it would be far cheeper for my labour to go single now due to the amount of work overlap and paying for the work twice. So we found the GT4088R setup from a GTRC member and bought it. The setup worked alright even though I wasnt to happy with the compnents we still made 587whp on pump. Anyways the -5/Tomie combo was left all NIB i took that as partial payment. The combo of items was desided after many conversations with Eric Hsu and XS Engineering. Im sure Super_Dude could expand on that.
Now the car is going RB30 and EFR turbo so there will be a FS thread comng in the next few weeks. We will keep you all posted.
Which EFR turbo? 91mm? 1000hp? Cause I'd hope it'd be better than the previous 600+hp one.Last edited by NismoS-tune; 03-20-2011, 02:19 AM.

Thanks for the info. They look great man. Can I ask why you choose the non divided outlet? Is there any gains with a divided outlet? I know it gives an awesome sound when the wastegate opens but thats all I know lol...

Dragon Humper, that's how you drive a GTS-R (race version of RB20DET). Basically drop down a gear to keep revs up and engine in powerband.

I love my T88, Carrol Shelby said it best in the '80s when the turbo 2.2 Dodges were all the rage....."if you are suffering from turbo lag then you ain't driving it right".
I have done some bansia runs on some of the windy secondary roads here in BC and I have no lag whatsoever if I keep the revs above 4500. For an old school knuckle dragger of a turbo, it stays on boil without much effort. You just have to have the balls to squeeze that throttle just a little more at the APEX because you get ALOT with only a little push. Learning to hold her back is a sure fire way to live longer.
Jon.

Anyways, on a positive note, if you can afford it, do it, I would if it was something I wanted. Just remember to show and tell cause it sounds pretty sick!!

I've noticed with twin turbo, single turbo, that twin turbo is alot smoother when transistioning to boost. Single turbo is alot more violent / responsive.
From what I understand, there's different types of response, transient response (how quickly engine responds after pressing throttle), engine response (how fast engine revs), boost response (turbo's spooling earlier). Smaller turbo = better boost response, transient response. Both can be measured on a Hub Dyno.
HKS have a response vs hp chart on their website -
If want all 3, stock capacity RB26, same duration on intake, exhaust cams (260 duration), HKS 25/30 or similar turbo's. Good for 700hp at engine when pushing turbo's to the limit's. Basically copy the Mines N1 R34GTR demo car engine.Last edited by Skym; 03-12-2011, 02:39 PM.
