  • Turbo tech and tomei exhaust questions

SOoo i attempted my first turbo assembly removal and after 4 hours im at the point where the manifolds are ready to be unbolted and only the bottom lines are still attached to the turbos.

I disassembled everything carefully and it really wasnt that bad of a job . everything came apart with the help or extensions , Ujoints and a breaker bar.

Now i'm replacing the manifolds and dump pipes with tomei expreme units and the turbos going in are 2860 -5 units, questions are :-

If you have used the expreme manifolds , did you wrap them with the exhaust wrap included in the kit ? is this an essential step ? . I'd rather not use it but if it's a critical step them i suppose i would.

It looks like the 2860 turbos have slightly different ports for water and oil , anyone know of a stainless braided kit that replaces all the original lines ? The original lines are in great shape and undamaged but id like to replace with lines that are new and flexible .

Do the 2860 housings need to be clocked ? I have the Trust/greddy suction hardpipe kit coming to replace all the rubber and other crap thats 15 years old , I want it to bolt up as accurately as possible lto minimise leaks. Anyone else have experience of this ?

The 2860s are brand new garrets boxed BUT do the wastegate actuators need adjusting etc ? , if so whats the procedure ?

That will be all for now !

    Thanks

they dont need to be clocked... u need an oil restrictor if ur replacing all the lines with ss... i did this a while ago. use your stock actuators as well because the -5's are set to 15psi. wrapping your manifolds is totally up to you. trust me on this one ... once you have them unwrapped this year you will want them wrapped next year because they are tarnished. also the wrapping helps under hood temps. as for the ss line ... im afraid unless anyone else know's you just gonna have to use a micrometer and thread gauge. (there is an article on here some where but 2 of the fittings are wrong) use -6AN for water and -4AN for oil (with the restrictor)... you will have to drill out your turbo oil elbows too. like for mounting.

I just barely got the stock water lines to work on my -7's... Have you tried hard enough!?
Dang! You got shocks, pegs... Lucky! You ever take it off any sweet jumps?
